Residual stress significantly influences the mechanical performance, fatigue resistance, and structural reliability of titanium alloys used in engineering applications. This study investigates the residual stress distribution induced by…
The objective of this work is to analyze some geometrical effect to predict the damage of aluminum 2024T3 structure after validate numerical model by experimental test. The mechanical of damage behaviour under tensile tests of several…
The exhaustion of constructive ways for increasing the service life of parts has led to the development of new methods which can improve their material properties during operation under various loading conditions. Laser shock peening (LSP)…
This article presents the bending fatigue behavior and the scatter-band analysis of aluminum alloys under beneficial conditions of nano-clay-particles and heat-treating, compared to detrimental conditions of the mechanical stress and the…
Elbows under load experience more stress and strain than straight tubes. The strength of the composite tubes plays an important role in their use, the damage under a thermomechanical behavior of a composite tubular structure bent between…
The volume fraction effect of carbon fiber in an epoxy matrix in the vicinity of the notch on the traction and torsion behavior were studied. This volume fraction which increases with the reduction of the thickness is a parameter which…
Conductive PLA is an innovative composite material that combines the ecological benefits of polylactic acid, a biodegradable thermoplastic, with electrical conductivity properties. Usually used in additive manufacturing for its ease of…
The work is devoted to the study of the Zr-1Nb alloy in coarse-grained and ultrafine-grained states under laser-induced shock-wave loading. This material is of interest due to the application for the manufacture of shells for fuel elements…
The Hercílio Luz suspension bridge, built in 1926, has been out of service since 1991 due to high corrosion levels and structural element impairment. A complete rehabilitation project was developed which included the replacement of the…
Additively manufactured materials possess significant heterogeneities and anisotropies of stiffness and strength properties between the growth and transverse directions. Residual stresses induced by the fabrication and processing stages…
The use of bonded externally polymer reinforced fiber (FRP) Laminates has been introduced as an effective approach in rehabilitating (RC) structures due to their high strength, corrosion resistance, reduced weight, and ease of use. This…
Laser shock peening (LSP) is used to enhance surface quality of the metallic structures by the generation of compressive residual stresses on it. This work studies the effect of the main LSP parameters on residual stress fields by the…
Hydraulic fracturing with oriented perforations is an effective technology for reservoir stimulation for gas development in shale reservoirs. However, fracture reorientation during fracturing operation can affect the fracture conductivity…
The steel plate shear walls (SPSW) are currently being considered as a lateral load resisting system. A numerical method was proposed to have a comprehensive comparison of seismic behaviors of the plane wall (PW) and stiffened plane wall…
This paper provides a finite element analysis of laminated composite plates under the action of a moving vehicle. The vehicle is modeled as a rigid body with four suspension systems, each consisting of a spring-dashpot. Overall, the…
Development in material science impose to use different materials in production. This causes a problem for joining different materials because traditional joining techniques such as welding could not overcome this problem in industries…
