7. USE YOUR GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT

Whenever possible, attach the Graphical Abstract to your social media posts.

Visual content generally makes scientific posts easier to understand and more likely to be noticed.

Recommended uses:

  • LinkedIn post;
  • ResearchGate update;
  • university or laboratory website;
  • departmental newsletter;
  • conference presentation;
  • personal academic webpage.

8. SHARE THE VISUAL ABSTRACT

If a Visual Abstract is available, we encourage you to share it through:

  • LinkedIn;
  • YouTube;
  • ResearchGate;
  • university or laboratory social media;
  • personal academic profiles.

Suggested introduction:

60 seconds to discover our latest research on [TOPIC].

9. TAG YOUR NETWORK

When posting your article, consider tagging:

  • your co-authors;
  • your university;
  • your department;
  • your research laboratory;
  • research projects connected with the work;
  • funding institutions;
  • collaborating universities;
  • relevant scientific societies.

This allows the post to reach audiences beyond your personal network.

Please tag Fracture and Structural Integrity whenever possible.

10. USE SPECIFIC HASHTAGS

Avoid using too many generic hashtags.

We suggest selecting 3 to 6 highly relevant hashtags.

Examples:

#FractureMechanics
#StructuralIntegrity
#Fatigue
#FatigueCrackGrowth
#AdditiveManufacturing
#CompositeMaterials
#HydrogenEmbrittlement
#FiniteElementAnalysis
#ExperimentalMechanics
#DamageMechanics
#WeldedJoints
#Concrete
#AdvancedMaterials
#OpenScience
#OpenAccess

11. PROMOTE THE ARTICLE MORE THAN ONCE

Publication day should not be the only opportunity to promote your paper.

A simple promotion schedule can be:

Day 1
Share the article and Graphical Abstract.

Week 2
Share the Visual Abstract or Podcast.

Month 1
Post one interesting result, graph or figure from the study.

Month 2–3
Share the article again when discussing a related research topic, conference or new project.

Different posts can reach different audiences.

12. UPDATE YOUR ACADEMIC PROFILES

After publication, please consider updating:

  • ORCID;
  • ResearchGate;
  • Google Scholar profile;
  • institutional repository;
  • university personal webpage;
  • laboratory webpage;
  • personal academic website.

Please always use the official DOI:

[DOI]

13. SHARE THE ARTICLE WITH THE RIGHT COMMUNITY

Rather than distributing the article indiscriminately, identify researchers who work on closely related subjects.

Relevant scientific communities may include:

[KEYWORD 1]
[KEYWORD 2]
[KEYWORD 3]
[KEYWORD 4]

Scientific visibility is most effective when the paper reaches researchers for whom the results are genuinely relevant.

14. A SIMPLE 5-MINUTE PROMOTION CHECKLIST

After publication:

☐ Post the article on LinkedIn
☐ Update ResearchGate
☐ Update ORCID
☐ Send the paper to your university communication office
☐ Tag your co-authors and institution
☐ Share the Graphical Abstract
☐ Share the Visual Abstract
☐ Add the DOI to your institutional webpage
☐ Inform your laboratory or research group
☐ Re-share the article after several weeks
