The Static Thermographic Method (STM) involves analyzing the thermal behavior of a specimen subjected to a quasi-static tensile test. The temperature trend, measured by an infrared camera, follows three phases where the first and second…
Estimation of the fatigue limit for steel ductile materials using non-destructive methods is a topic of great interest to researchers today. In recent years, the method adopted has implemented infrared sensors to detect the surface…
This paper presents both mechanical and structural aspects of micro-cracking of CuNi2Si copper alloy in CNCS grade revealed during the static tensile test in the temperature range between 20ºC and 800ºC. The purpose of this paper is to…
In recent times, the shape of the beams evolved from wooden sleepers and then to steel sleepers until they reached concrete sleepers. These sleepers play a very important role in transferring the loads from the train wheels to the subgrade…
In recent years, the use of natural fiber composites to provide a possible replacement for synthetic fiber composites for practical applications has been the subject of several studies. This study deals with the fabrication and…
In the current European standards for design of timber structures, the issue of timber-to-timber joint type is addressed only to squared timber, which makes the pinpointing of the round timber bolted joints load carrying capacity…
The influence of the joint line remnant (JLR) on tensile and fatigue fracture behaviour has been investigated in a friction stir welded Al-Mg-Sc alloy. JLR is one of the microstructural features formed in friction stir welds depending on…
The aim of this study is to deal with the simulation of intralaminar fatigue damage in unidirectional composite under multi-axial and variable amplitude loadings. The variable amplitude and multi-axial loading is accounted for by using the…

This paper presents a research about the monotonic and failure behaviours of bolted joints made of thin plates of S350GD and S355MC steels grades, which are used for rack structures. A full factorial test matrix was performed considering…
A thorough study of the literature indicated that there is not much relevant research on the application of GFRP gratings. Otherwise, extensive study has been done on FRP bars, laminates, sheets, strips, and rods. This study proposes a…
Monitoring the energy release during fatigue tests of common engineering materials has been shown to give relevant information on fatigue properties, reducing the testing time and material consumption. During a static tensile test, it is…
To reduce the depth of floor-beam structures and to save the cost of headed-shear studs, many types of shallow composite beam have been developed during the last few years. Among them, the shallow-hollow steel beam consists of web…
In this paper thermal analysis was applied to determine the “Critical Stress” of concrete, different from its ultimate strength, able to produce the first damage in the structures under compressive loads. The Critical Stress can be thought…
