The aim of this scientific work was to investigate the behaviour of cruciform welded joints under static loading using a full-field technique: Digital Image Correlation. The material curves, relative to different zones (base material, heat…
The paper analyses the numerical algorithms for experimental data processing using a contactless video system Vic-3D, designed for three-dimension analysis of displacement and strain fields, and digital image correlation method. The…
The direct identification of the cohesive law in pure mode I of Pinus pinaster is addressed. The approach couples the double cantilever beam (DCB) test with digital image correlation (DIC). Wooden beam specimens loaded in the…
This paper investigates the use of digital image correlation (DIC) and finite element analysis for strain measurement on Printed Board Circuits (PCBs). Circuit boards (PCBs) are designed to mechanically support and electrically connect an…
The study presents and compares an application of two procedures to identify the crack tip location in PVC Sent samples under a uniaxial tensile test based on the image processing method. An IDS camera captures several photos of the PVC…
This paper aims to disclose the damage evolution law of the surface field of argillaceous dolomite. For this purpose, the 3D digital image correlation was combined with the Brazilian test into a new analysis method for the surface field…
In this paper Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is used to study the evolution of the plastic zone close to a crack tip. A modified CT-specimen was used in order to fulfill the plane stress condition. The strain field around the crack tip…
The leak area of circumferential through-thickness crack in pipe under bending depends on the position of the crack with respect to the bending plane. In leak-before-break (LBB) analysis, the assumption that the crack is symmetrically…
A new experimental method for measuring strain fields in highly deformable materials has been developed. This technique is based on an in-house developed Digital Image Correlation (DIC) system capable of accurately capturing localized or…
The objective of this work was to characterize the full-field flexural behavior of composite sandwich beams. Finite element analysis was used to estimate the behavior of sandwich beams under three- and four-point-bending tests and were…
The paper analyses previously reported work, which uses digital image correlation to measure fatigue crack closure. As well as determining crack opening loads, the information on crack shape may be used to estimate the stress intensity…
Residual stress significantly influences the mechanical performance, fatigue resistance, and structural reliability of titanium alloys used in engineering applications. This study investigates the residual stress distribution induced by…
Near tip full-field strains in a growing fatigue crack have been studied in situ using the Digital Image Correlation (DIC) technique in a compact tension specimen of stainless steel 316L under tension-tension cyclic loading. An error…
Single-lap joints made of aluminium and carbon fibre adherends of different thickness are tested to understand better the behaviour of such dissimilar joints. The overlap length and the thickness of the adhesive are kept constant. Local…
In this paper, tensile tests of specimens with a pattern of holes made of fiber-glass plastic based on combined epoxy and phenol-formaldehyde resins are carried out in order to study the processes of damage accumulation and tension…

A viable approach to solve inverse problems in elasticity is proposed. It is based on regression algorithms to estimate materials and/or loading parameters by fitting the experimentally-evaluated displacement field to representative…
The article is devoted to the experimental study of the laws of inelastic deformation of structural polymer composites in the presence of macroinhomogeneous fields. The work uses a three-dimensional optical system and a method of digital…
Most techniques of measuring the stress intensity factor (SIF) in the cracking process assume a crack in a planar medium. Currently, there is no effective approach for curved brittle shells, particularly for non-developable cases, i.e.…
Modern technological capabilities make it possible to produce 3D spatially-reinforced for polymer composite materials. The tasks of experimental research and analysis of the deformation process of new composite materials for aviation…
The use of carbon-fiber composite materials (CFRP) in critical cases implies an increase in the resistance to the stability of their mechanical properties. For the purpose of in-depth analysis of defects in the experiments, an integrated…
