The volume fraction effect of carbon fiber in an epoxy matrix in the vicinity of the notch on the traction and torsion behavior were studied. This volume fraction which increases with the reduction of the thickness is a parameter which…
The scope of the present work is to point out a consistent simulation procedure for the quasi-static fracture processes, starting from the micro-structural characteristics of the material. To this aim, a local nineparameters…
In recent studies, piezoelectric actuators have been recognized as a practical and effective material for repairing cracks in thin-walled structures, such as plates that are adhesively bonded with piezoelectric patches due to their…
In this study, the influence of a material’s plastic properties on the crack tip fields and dislocation density behavior is analytically and numerically analyzed using the conventional mechanism-based strain-gradient plasticity (CMSGP)…
Power plant piping system subjected to many cyclic loading conditions leads to fatigue loading and thereby crack initiation in the piping system. Demonstrating Leak-Before-Break (LBB) in the design stage itself plays an important role in…
This study aims to analyze the effect of thermo mechanical coupling damage in the presence of a phase change (austenite/martensite) in 35NCD16 steel. The impact of increasing mechanical traction load, accompanied by a martensitic…
Continuous composite beams may suffer a global instability know as lateral distortional buckling (LDB). The design code EN 1994-1-1:2004 provides a procedure for the verification of this ultimate limit state, in which the resistant bending…
The indentation response of a pseudoelastic nickel-titanium based shape memory alloy (SMA) has been analyzed. Indentation tests have been carried out at room temperature using a spherical diamond tip and indentation loads in the range…
The paper presents the numerical analysis of failure pressure of wall loss defect metallic pipelines and validate it with experimental results. An optimization of composite thickness for repair of wall loss defect pipeline is also carried…
The present work concentrates on the development of a methodology for evaluating the fatigue performance of single and double lap adhesively bonded joints subjected to constant or variable fatigue loading. Firstly, a methodology was…
This research investigates cracking in Reinforced Concrete Structures (RCS), particularly in bridge abutments, box girders, and culverts. Cracks often appear even after the concrete has reached its full strength. The current American…
In this paper, determination of the accurate notch stress intensity factors (NSIFs) have been demonstrated using a recently proposed technique: The point substitution displacement technique (PSDT) for the sharp Vnotched configurations. In…
The current investigation deals with the forming process of Perforated Sheet Metal (PSM) process. The goal of the work is to determine by experimental and numerical methods the Forming Limit Diagrams (FLDs) of an Al-Mg-Si aluminum alloy.…
The detachment plates 2024T3 by an Araldite adhesive is studied in this work by using the finite element method to predict the damage in traction and compression behavior under the effect of geometrical parameters such as the lap length…
This paper is devoted to the numerical and experimental study of ductile fracture in bulk metal forming of the 2017A-T4 aluminum alloy. From an experimental standpoint, the ductile fracture of the 2017A-T4 aluminum alloy is investigated…
Bonded assemblies are widely used in many industrial sectors mainly in the aerospace field. Many researches in these domains are focused on evaluating the stresses in the adhesive layer in order to achieve maximum strength and long service…
