T Multiaxial creep-fatigue tests under non-proportional loading conditions with various strain rates were carried out using a hollow cylinder specimen of a high chromium ferritic steel at 823K in air to discuss the influence of…
Marble conventional triaxial loading and unloading failure testing research is carried out to analyze the elastic strain energy and dissipated strain energy evolutionary characteristics of the marble deformation process. The study results…
Recently, engineering blasting is widely applied in projects such as rock mineral mining, construction of underground cavities and field-leveling excavation. Dynamic mechanical performance of rocks has been gradually attached importance…
The present investigation deals with the characterization of tensile behavior of various Fiber Reinforced Polymer composites under Thermo-Mechanical loading. Five different types of Uni-Directional (UD) composites of Carbon, Glass…
Vast number of theoretical and experimental works has been devoted to the study of discontinuous plastic deformation (the Portevin-Le Chatelier effect), which manifests itself for most widely used alloys in certain ranges of both…
A three-dimensional crack propagation simulation is performed by the Dual Boundary Element Method (DBEM). The Stress Intensity Factors (SIFs) along the front of a semi elliptical crack, initiated from the external surface of a hollow axle…
Fatigue crack growth (FCG) rates have traditionally been formulated from fracture mechanics, whereas fatigue crack initiation has been empirically described using stress-life or strain-life methods. More recently, there has been efforts…
Elber's hypothesis that DeltaKeff can be assumed as the driving force for fatigue crack growth (FCG) is the basis for strip-yield models widely used to predict fatigue lives under variable amplitude loads, although it does not explain all…
Redundant data obtained under quasi-constant {DeltaK, Kmax} loading conditions is used to verify if the effective stress intensity factor (SIF) range DeltaKeff DeltaKmax DeltaKop is indeed the fatigue crack driving force. The crack opening…
The novel non-destructive method for quantitative description of low-cycle fatigue damage accumulation is expanded to a case of contact interaction in the stress concentration area. Investigated objects are plane aluminium specimens with…
Highly deformable materials (elastomers, gels, biological tissues, etc.) are ubiquitous in nature as well as in technology. The understanding of their flaw sensitivity is crucial to ensure a desired safety level. Fracture failure in soft…
The fivefold symmetric modular stellarator Wendelstein 7-X (W7-X) is currently under construction in Greifswald, Germany. The superconducting coils of the magnet system are bolted onto a central support ring and interconnected with five…
In the cohesive framework, a stress-state dependent cohesive model, combined with an irreversible damage parameter has been used in simulation of fatigue crack growth initiation and continued growth. The model is implemented as interface…
The aim of this work is to solve the methodological issues of the experimental study of the nucleation and propagation of deformation bands due to the Portevin-Le Chatelier effect under conditions of complex loading. It is of interest to…
The knowlegde of dynamic mechanical properties is useful in all cases where the strain rate sensitivity of metallic materials is an issue, and whenever the actual loading conditions for a structure (either in normal operation or under…
When we want to compare the strength of two materials, we compare the table values of quasistatic strength. However results of some experiments show that the strength ratio of the materials can change with increase in rate of loading. Such…
The behavior of thermoplastics depends on several factors, mainly time and temperature. The present work is the subject of an analysis of the dependence of viscoelastic viscoplastic parameters of a model of rheological behavior at the…
In the design of adhesive structures, it is extremely important to accurately predict their strength and fracture properties (critical strain energy release rate in tension, GIC, and shear, GIIC). In most cases, the loads occur in…
This paper analyses industrial PVC sheets structural integrity assessment widely used for different ranges of industrial applications. We investigated combined approaches focused on fracture toughness assessment to predict PVC mechanical…
The criteria for optimizing shock-wave modes to increase the fatigue life of aircraft engine alloys are discussed with reference to laser shock peening (LSP). They are based on the self-similarity of plastic wave fronts and the kinetics of…
Two cracks, initiated from the opposite tips of a central notch inclined by 45°, were considered in cruciform specimens made of Ti6246. A static load was applied to a cruciform arm while a cyclic load was applied along the other arm.…
