Structural failure assessment approaches take into account local parameters, specimen geometry, loading and material. In the case of welded joints, in addition to these parameters, consideration must be given to the effect of the…
A new approach has been developed and implemented to determine the main components of residual stresses that arise as a result of the contact interaction of a spherical indenter and a flat surface of composite plate made. The experimental…
A series of strain-controlled multiaxial low cycle fatigue (LCF) tests under proportional and non-proportional loading conditions have been conducted on notched specimens. Cylindrical bars of Al 6061 aluminum alloy and AISI 316L stainless…
Aluminium alloy composites are extensively utilised in the aerospace, automobile, and marine industries due to their lightweight structure and high strength-to-density ratio. However, there remains significant potential to further improve…
FML (Fibre Metal Laminate) is a hybrid material that presents outstanding structural properties, such as resistance to cyclic and dynamic loads, together with low specific weight. This material consists of metal sheets alternating to…
The work reviews some preliminary recent micromechanical tests aimed at the evaluation of the fracture toughness of silicon. Pre-cracked nano specimens and alternatively notched nano specimens combined with the theory of critical distances…
This work introduces an experimental study to evaluate the effect of elevated temperatures on the mechanical properties of high-performance concrete (HPC) mix with changes in Water-Cementitious ratios, W/(C+SF), Silica Fume percent, SF…
Hybrid continuous fiber–reinforced composites produced by fused deposition modeling (FDM) offer a promising solution for lightweight load-bearing structures. However, their mechanical performance is strongly governed by internal…
The paper presents a result of experimental tests of welded S355 specimens subjected to combined bending and torsion loading. In order to analyse how the fillet joints’ shape and the load ratio affect the crack growth, we selected two…
The rapid development of inhomogeneous and anisotropic materials like carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRP) with epoxy matrices necessitates a multidisciplinary approach for safe use. This approach should integrate computational modeling…
In this work, we investigate the behavior of wire ropes subject to corrosion damage. The method is based on accelerated corrosion. Decreasing ultimate force and a loss in rigidity was observed from the static tensile tests made on the…
The paper presents the results of experimental and theoretical investigations of the mechanisms of crack formation in reinforced concrete beams subjected to quasi-static bending. The boundary-value problem has been formulated in the…
Variable amplitude loading is frequently applied to welded structures in practical engineering, and fatigue failure is a prevalent problem. In recent years, machine learning is a useful technique for predicting fatigue life. However, it is…
