Stepped steel girders and beams with a jump in section depth are highly susceptible to local web buckling at the step location. Although tapered steel girders have been studied extensively by researchers, abruptly stepped steel girders…
The research focuses on examining the impact of technological defects, specifically "dry-spot" and "wrinkles," on the mechanical behavior and buckling resistance of structural composites. The investigation of the buckling phenomenon was…
In this paper, gradual demand for curved, stiffened panels composite emerged from carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP); these are structures that are frequently used in aerospace engineering. Up to 50% of the primary structure of the…
The study explores the feasibility of a new all-steel buckling restrained brace (BRB) with the double pre-tensioning system as an alternative to conventional concentrically braced frames by using finite element method (ABAQUS program), And…
A refined and simple shear deformation theory for mechanical buckling of composite plate resting on two-parameter Pasternak’s foundations is developed. The displacement field is chosen based on assumptions that the in-plane and transverse…
Cold-formed steel (CFS) structural members retain their positions in the lightweight construction industry. This is due to the significant advantages of CFS. The optimization of these CFS elements will allow the construction of economical…
Numerical analyses by finite element method and experimental tests are used to determine static and dynamic behaviour of railway vehicles. Experimental measurements are very time consuming and expensive, so they cannot be used at all…
This paper presents a dynamic and critical buckling analysis of the presence of a crack of steel-polymer concrete composite beams modelled using a refined quasi 3D beam theory. The beam model is a hollow steel box section filled with a…
The aim of this work is to investigate the mechanical behavior of sandwich structures when subjected to edgewise and flatwise compression loadings, using 2D Digital Image Correlation (DIC). These structures are made of Glass Fiber…
The objective of this work is to analyze the behavior beams functionally graded, simply supported, under different conditions such as bending, buckling, and vibration and this by use shear deformation theories a two-dimensional (2D) and…
The use of carbon-fiber composite materials (CFRP) in critical cases implies an increase in the resistance to the stability of their mechanical properties. For the purpose of in-depth analysis of defects in the experiments, an integrated…
Concrete Filled Double Skinned Steel Tubular (CFDST) composite column is preferred over Concrete Filled Steel Tube composite column (CFST) owing to enhanced strength. However, they may possess concrete imperfection due to shrinkage and…
In this work, the effects of chloride-induced corrosion on tempcore B400c and B450c steel grades are evaluated, in terms of corrosion resistance and mechanical characteristics, after the performance of Tensile and Low Cycle Fatigue…
To increase the elastic critical load of a plate, such as I-shaped cross-welded section of bridge girders, slenderness is usually reduced by dividing the web into subpanels, by means of transversal stiffeners and a longitudinal stiffener…
The present work investigates the compressive mechanical response of three lattice structures manufactured via VAT photopolymerization. A bio-inspired architecture, derived from the observation of Euplectella aspergillum, was compared with…
In order to study the mechanical behavior of reactive powder concrete (RPC) filled square steel tubular columns, this paper designs an eccentric compression experiment for 12 specimens of RPC filled square steel tubular column and studies…
In this article, an analytical study was done to predict the behavior of the beam vis-à-vis bending, buckling, and dynamic responses of isotropic homogeneous beams based on an elastic foundation. The material properties of the FG-beams…
Despite the growing diffusion of composite materials in automotive and aerospace sectors, a standard procedure for testing their crashworthiness has not been developed yet. At present, the international standards for testing composite…
Continuous composite beams may suffer a global instability know as lateral distortional buckling (LDB). The design code EN 1994-1-1:2004 provides a procedure for the verification of this ultimate limit state, in which the resistant bending…
Ground steel storage tanks are widely used in different industries. Regarding the significance of these structures, ensuring the proper performance of such structures in earthquakes needs evaluating their seismic performance. The present…
The present work consists of a contribution in modeling the mechanical behavior of cork in compression. For this purpose, compression tests are performed in the non-radial direction on high density reproduction cork samples. Cork shows…
C Composite materials are most often used for lengthier and thin structures susceptible to buckle. The optimization is often carried out taking into consideration the resistance to buckling and tensile loads for minimum displacement i.e…
