The idea of “hybrid joints” arises from the need of joining together materials, producing a tough, stiff and lightweight joint. The core concept is: use two different joining techniques, with the aim to increase the strength and gather the…
In modern civil buildings, as well as in mechanical and naval constructions, welding is a widely diffused technological process. The fatigue assessment, as design or verification procedure, of a welded joint to evaluate his endurance with…
The paper presents an experimental analysis of the state of stress, free supported on the edge of a steel – titanium circular perforated plate loaded with a centrally concentrated force, created in the technological process of explosion…
The concepts and inspiration of biological evolution in nature are used to create new and effective competing tactics in the burgeoning field of bio-inspired computing optimization algorithms. In the present work, nine specimens of similar…
To evaluate the integrity of a structure consists to prove his ability to perform his mechanical functions for all modes of loading, normal or accidental, and throughout its lifespan. In the context of nuclear safety, for the most…
This paper presents the analysis of the temperature and exploitation time impact on the resistant measure to brittle fracture of welded joint constituents of the new and exploited low-alloyed Cr-Mo steel A-387 Gr. B from the aspect of…
-The influence of exploitation period and temperature on the fatigue crack growth parameters in different regions of a welded joint is analysed for new and exploited low-alloyed Cr-Mo steel A-387 Gr. B. The parent metal is a part of a…
The aim of this research activity was to study the fatigue behavior of laser welded joints of titanium alloy, in which the welding was performed using a laser source and in the absence of filler material, by means of unconventional full…
This article defines the main actions planned in the procedure of non-destructive testing and analysis of defects in the BK1 industrial mill of the cement plant of the GICA group. One of the subjects attracting the attention of researchers…
At intermediate service temperatures hot mix asphalt (HMA) concretely are subjected to different loading rates due to movement of vehicles which can significantly affect their mechanical characteristics and final service load. Hence, in…
The main objective of this study is to compare the mechanical strength of friction stir spot welded (FSSW) joints and adhesive bonded single lap ones. The present study aims to compare the morphology and strength of welded and adhesive…
Currently, cellular steel beams are widely used by structural engineers and major companies due to their useful structural applications and serviceable performance. However, these types of steel beams are susceptible to different states of…
In this paper, high cycle fatigue failure behavior of Load-carrying Cruciform Welded Joints (LCWJ) is assessed using Strain Energy Density (SED) approach. Different analytical solutions are proposed and applied to illustrate the effects of…
During the past few decades, composite beams (steel I beam and concrete slab) have had a wide range of uses, particularly in bridge construction. This is due to its relatively low economic cost compared to individual steel structures or…
S-N curve fatigue samples of titanium alloy welded joints have such a comparatively significant scatter, that results in the issue that the fatigue life prediction accuracy is not optimal. In this work, the titanium alloy welded joints'…
The study aims at assessing the effects of the ultrasonic consolidation parameters and the insertion of energy directors from the commercially available polyetheretherketone film ~250 µm thick on the structure and mechanical properties of…
The sheet metal forming operations generally involve the production of parts characterized by a non-uniform thickness distribution. However, in some cases, a product characterized by a distribution of thicknesses that is as uniform as…
The paper presents the stress distribution along the plate thickness in a bimetallic steel – titanium circular, axially symmetrical perforated plate produced in the technological process of explosion welding. The steel layer is the layer…
The characterization of ductile damage evolution, and its description, have been the object of extensive research in the continuum damage mechanic field. Many different models have been developed since the pioneering works carried out a…
This study examines the changes in microstructure and mechanical properties of friction stir-welded (FSW) dissimilar joints between AA2014-T6 and AA5052-H32 aluminium alloys, with an emphasis on optimizing tool rotation speed for enhanced…
Development in material science impose to use different materials in production. This causes a problem for joining different materials because traditional joining techniques such as welding could not overcome this problem in industries…
The goal of this study was to determine the reasons for failure of slab carrying clamps which had occurred in one of the clamp support levers. Detailed fractography analysis revealed that there was a welded joint at the location where…
In fracture mechanics (domain of cracked environments), it is concerned to forecast the behavior of the structures until their ruin. Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a new process for solid-state joining, it can weld high strength aluminum…
Mechanical processing of hole edges in large-size hull structures of single and double curvature for welding saturation parts into them is an urgent task of shipbuilding. A considerable amount of such machining has to be performed directly…
