This paper demonstrates the application of continuous wavelet transform technique for magnetic flux leakage signal generated during a uniaxial fatigue test. This is a consideration as the magnetic signal is weak and susceptible to being…
Vast number of theoretical and experimental works has been devoted to the study of discontinuous plastic deformation (the Portevin-Le Chatelier effect), which manifests itself for most widely used alloys in certain ranges of both…
Bearings, considered crucial components in rotating machinery, are widely used in the industry. Bearing status monitoring has become an essential step in the deployment of preventive maintenance policy. This work is part of the diagnosis…
Early damage detection plays an essential role in the safe and satisfactory maintenance of structures. This work investigates techniques use only damaged structure responses. A Timoshenko beam was modeled in finite element method, and an…
Wavelet transforms are efficient tools for structural health monitoring (SHM) and damage detection. However, these methods are encountered with some limitations in practice. Thus, signal energy analysis is used as an alternative technique…
Arch bridges play an important role in rural roads in China. Due to insufficient funds and a lack of management techniques, many rural arch bridges are in a state of disrepair, unable to meet the increasing transportation needs. Thus, it…
In the process of structural damage detection using continuous wavelet transform (CWT), the perturbation or damage is located by identifying the defects locally in the input signal data. In this work the damage identification procedure…
This study investigates the effects of complex (nonproportional) loading on plastic deformation in aluminum alloys (Al-6% Mg), with a focus on understanding surface morphology changes driven by the Portevin–Le Chatelier effect. Mechanical…
In this study, a digital twin framework is proposed for damage detection in a civil structure, which consists of a finite element model, neural networks, model updating methods, and signal processing. To verify the proposed framework, we…
There is a need for efficient techniques that could identify damages in structures such as in bridges, pipelines, buildings, dams, among others. In order to carry out continuous monitoring of structures, this paper proposes a new…
In recent years, one can observe a constant worry of the scientific community on the search for demage detection techniques in structures. Such worry contributed to the progressive development of Structural Health Monitoring. This paper…
The present work aims at developing a new approach towards the analysis of the crack path through the access to the information from the infrared (IR) video imaging of the steady fatigue crack growth. We first test some commonly available…
This paper presents the behaviour of fatigue damage extraction in fatigue strain histories of automotive components using the probabilistic approach. This is a consideration for the evaluation of fatigue damage extraction in automotive…
