This study based on a new fracture mechanics parameter is concerned with assessing the integrity of cracked steam turbine disk which operate under startup-shutdown cyclic loading conditions. Damage accumulation and growth in service have…
The objective of the present paper is to clarify the effect of defect length in depth direction on rolling contact fatigue (RCF) crack propagation in high strength steel. RCF test and synchrotron radiation micro computed tomography (SR…
In the present paper, mathematical models are proposed in order to analyze the strength of pinloaded lugs with semi-elliptical crack and through-the-thickness crack. The crack growth investigation of considered crack configurations tackles…
Modified version of the crack compliance method is used for determination of stress intensity factor (SIF) related to narrow notches emanating from cold-expanded holes. These notches are inserted at different stages of low-cycle fatigue…
The effect of residual stresses on surface fatigue crack propagation and fracture mechanics parameters of intersecting orthogonal cracks is discussed. Mutual influence of intersecting cracks and biaxiality affects the nonsingular…
Experimental method for a characterization of high-cycle fatigue evolution of residual stress near cold-expanded hole is developed and implemented. The technique is based on simultaneous measurements of deformation response to narrow…
New experimental technique for a determination of the stress intensity factor (SIF) and T-stress values is developed and verified. The approach assumes combining the crack compliance method and optical interferometric measurements of local…
This work is aimed at reproducing numerically a campaign of experimental tests performed for the development of reinforced panels, typically found in aircraft fuselage. The bonded reinforcements can significantly reduce the rate of fatigue…
The work is devoted to experimental investigation of the laser shock peening (LSP) effect on fatigue crack propagation rate and heat dissipation at the crack tip in specimens made of titanium alloy Grade 2 with a stress concentrator. It is…
In this study, the three-dimensional finite element method is used to analyze an API 5L X70 steel cylindrical pipeline subjected to an internal pressure load by calculating the stress intensity factors and the integral J at the peak of…
The novel destructive method is implemented for quantitative assessment of fatigue damage accumulation in the stress concentration zone accompanied by residual stress due to cold expansion of the through-thickness hole. Damage accumulation…
Localized displacement measurements based on electronic speckle-pattern interferometry are used to obtain crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD), stress intensity factor (SIF) and T-stress values during crack growth around cold-expanded…
The modeling of the welding is desirable to guess the deformation of the components during manufacture, the position and the magnitude of maximum residual stresses and to envisage metallurgical effects in specific zones. The welding are…
In this work the finite element method (FEM) was used to analyze the mechanical behavior of the composite materials subjected to the mechanical loading. This behavior is studied in terms of stress intensity factor variation as a function…
