Structural Health Evaluation of Arch Bridge by Field Test and Optimized BPNN Algorithm

Zhihua Xiong, Jiachen She, Zhuoxi Liang, Xulin Mou, Yu Zhang

Arch bridges play an important role in rural roads in China. Due to insufficient funds and a lack of management techniques, many rural arch bridges are in a state of disrepair, unable to meet the increasing transportation needs. Thus, it…

Crack detection in beam-like structures by nonlinear harmonic identification

Paolo Casini, Fabrizio Vestroni, Oliviero Giannini

The dynamic behavior of beam-like structures with fatigue cracks forced by harmonic excitation is characterized by the appearance of sub and super-harmonics in the response even in presence of cracks with small depth. Since the amplitude…

Elastic-viscoplastic deformation models of salt rocks

Alexander Baryakh, Andrey Tsayukov

Results of secondary creep tests for salt rock specimens were mathematically described. Elastic-viscoplastic modeling of viscous properties of salt rocks was based on elastoplastic models using a non-associated Mohr-Coulomb plastic flow…

Analytical and numerical analysis on the collapse modes of least-thickness circular masonry arches at decreasing friction

Giuseppe Cocchetti, Egidio Rizzi

Departing from pioneering Heyman modern rational investigations on the purely-rotational collapse mode of least-thickness circular masonry arches, the hypothesis that joint friction shall be high enough to prevent inter-block sliding is…

Finite Element Analysis of Interactions of between two cracks in FGM notched Plate under Mechanical Loading

Aboubakar Seddik Bouchikhi, Abdelkader Lousdad, Khalfi Yassine, Nasser Eddine Bouida, Sadek Gouasmi, Abdelkader Megueni

The investigation of multiple crack interactions in fracture mechanics is important to predict the safety and reliability of structures. This paper introduces a numerical investigation used to calculate the J-integral of the main crack…

Selecting the objective function during the inverse identification of the parameters of a material model of concrete

F. Hokes, J. Kala

Selecting the correct objective function is the critical precondition for a successful optimization task. The validity of this condition is also required when optimization algorithms are needed for the inverse identification of the unknown…
