In this paper we investigated the influence of consecutive dynamic and gigacycle fatigue loads on the lifetime of aluminum-magnesium alloy AlMg6. Preloading of samples was achieved during dynamic tensile tests in the split-Hopkinson bar…
An approach to multiscale description of deformation and fracture of brittle porous materials on the basis of movable cellular automaton method was proposed. The material characterized by pore size distribution function having two maxima…
The existence of two singularities related to the stress field at the crack tip and blow-up kinetics of damage localization is considered as the physical basis for the interpretation of the Theory of Critical Distances. The free energy…
The criteria for optimizing shock-wave modes to increase the fatigue life of aircraft engine alloys are discussed with reference to laser shock peening (LSP). They are based on the self-similarity of plastic wave fronts and the kinetics of…
Our research described in this paper focused on fabricating and characterising polylactic acid (PLA) composites reinforced with randomly dispersed boron nitride nanoplatelets (BNNP). The integrated experimental analysis with the Finite…
The characteristic informative parameters for defect detection to be used in fatigue sensors have been established. Their development is interpreted in terms of scale levels of deformation and fracture. Damage accumulation of the sensor’s…
We propose the interpretation of the Finite Fracture Mechanics based on the criticality of damage-failure transition due to specific metastability of free energy release. Multiscale mechanisms of fatigue damage-failure transitions in…
Fatigue takes a place more and more important in the design of structures, it remains a key point in the mechanical dimensioning of structures. The Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process is regarded today as the most promising alternative to…
The phenomenon of brittle fracture occurs too often in various branches of engineering being the reason of unexpected termination of anticipated service lives of an engineering objects. This leads to unfortunate catastrophic structural…
Additive manufacturing is extensively used for the production of complex-shaped parts from metals and polymers. Because of the influence of various physical factors, the structure of materials processed under different processing…
Gypsum is a soft rock with low strength and high propensity to plastic deformation. Its mechanical properties are relevant in a wide range of technical application (e.g. tunnel excavation, stability assessment of underground quarries, oil…
This research examines the mechanical characteristics of polymer composites (PMMA) that are reinforced with Hydroxyapatite (HAp), with a particular emphasis on the Elastic Modulus and Compressive Strength. The investigation employs a…
This paper presents a novel modification of the multilevel statistical model for describing the subgrain boundary migration that can explicitly account for the topology of subgrain structures in the form of Laguerre polyhedra. The…
Simulating the concrete fracture unlike other elastic and brittle materials quite different due to its quasibrittleness. The present research focussed on assess softening behavior by varying different fractions of aggregates and cement…
The most important element of mathematical models of thermomechanical processing of metals and alloys is the constitutive model. In recent decades, multilevel physically-oriented constitutive models (CMs) have found widespread application.…
