Biodegradable stents are attracting the attention of many researchers in biomedical and materials research fields since they can absolve their specific function for the expected period of time and then gradually disappear. This feature…
Components and structures are designed based in their material’s mechanical properties such as Young's modulus or yield stress among others. Often those properties are obtained under monotonic mechanical tests but rarely under cyclic ones.…
Numerical simulation by plastic deformation of the shaping processes currently has a large industrial interest. It allows you to shorten the time of design and construction related products and tools to analyze and to optimize processes.…
Fatigue life tests under constant and variable amplitude loadings were performed on the tube-tube thin-walled welded specimens made of magnesium (AZ31 and AZ61) alloys. The tests included pure axial, pure torsional and combined in-phase…
Aluminum alloys are widely used in the automobile industry because of their excellent mechanical strength, low weight, and remarkable resistance to corrosion and wear. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the microstructure…
This paper deals with the fatigue crack propagation behavior of rolled AZ31B magnesium alloy (grain size: approximately 40 ?m). Fatigue crack propagation tests were performed on single edge notched tension specimens at a stress ratio of R…
Magnesium (Mg) alloys are attractive as structural materials due to their light weight and high specific strength. It is well known that Mg alloy has hexagonal close-packed (HCP) structure and only basal slip or twinning can operate during…
Tensile and stress controlled fatigue tests were performed to investigate the influence of forging at a temperature of 400°C at different rates, on the performance of extruded AZ31B magnesium alloy. The obtained microstructural analysis…
Axial monotonic and load-controlled fatigue tests were performed to investigate the influence of forging at various temperatures and different deformation rates, on both the microstructural and mechanical behaviour of extruded AZ31B…
The current work aims to investigate the mechanical properties of rare oxide reinforced Mg alloy based MMCs. Magnesium matrix considered in the study is AZ91D alloy, whereas rare earth oxides reinforced were CeO2 and Y2O3. The Y2O3…
The influence of the non-proportional loadings on the fatigue life depends on the material ductility. Ductile materials react with a shortening of lifetime compared to proportional loading conditions. For a semiductile material there is…
Magnesium alloys have generated renewed interest as a light alloys; replacing some conventional structural materials for weight reduction in applications like aerospace, automotive and electronics industries. In interior components and…
The microstructural origins of premature fatigue failures were investigated on a variety of forged components manufactured from AZ80 and ZK60 magnesium, both at the test specimen level and the full-scale component level. Both stress and…
The use of magnesium alloys, in particular AZ31B-H24, represents an increasingly important aspect in the transport field, as well as in the aeronautical industry. In the forming processes of this material, the shapes of the product are…
This paper presents the development of the multiple linear regression approach based on the stress ratio and applied load that was assessed using entropy generation. The energy dissipation is associated with material degradation to…
This study aims to investigate the delamination effect of a metal sandwich panel using a four-point bending simulation under continual spectrum loading. The most recent core designs of the sandwich panel have a cavity that can increase…
Friction stir spot welding (FSSW) is a very important part of conventional friction stir welding (FSW) which can be a replacement for riveted assemblies and resistance spot welding. This technique provides high quality joints compared to…
