During fatigue crack propagation experiments with constant force as well as constant stress intensity lock in thermography and heat flow measurements with a new developed peltier sensor have been performed. With lock in thermography space…
This work is devoted to the development of an experimental method for studying the energy balance during cyclic deformation and fracture. The studies were conducted on 304 stainless steel AISE and titanium alloy OT4-0 samples. The…
Experimental and numerical studies investigating fatigue crack growth were conducted on flat samples made of stainless steel AISE 304 and titanium alloy Grade 2. The heat flux from the crack tip caused by plastic deformation localization…
Crack initiation and propagation have been investigated on the polymeric material ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), under ultrasonic fatigue testing. Three controlled actions were implemented in order to carry out fatigue tests at…
The work is devoted to experimental study of heat flow evolution at the fatigue crack tip during biaxial loading. The plane samples of titanium alloy Graid-2 with thick of 1 mm were weakened by notch to initiate fatigue crack at the center…
This work is devoted to the comparative analysis of three techniques for measurement of energy dissipation in metals under fatigue crack propagation: original contact heat flux sensor, post-processing of the infrared thermography data and…
The work is devoted to experimental investigation of the laser shock peening (LSP) effect on fatigue crack propagation rate and heat dissipation at the crack tip in specimens made of titanium alloy Grade 2 with a stress concentrator. It is…
The monitoring of a heat dissipation process can give an important information about kinetics of deformation process and current crack propagation rate. The work is devoted to the theoretical and experimental study of the problem. The…
The energy dissipation in metals in the process of irreversible deformation leads to intensive heat generation in the areas in the strain localization zones. This work is devoted to the measuring the power of heat sources by means of the…
Ultrasonic vibrothermography is an effective and non-destructive method, which can be used for a quick detection of coating defects on large surfaces. Mechanical excitation of a layered structure induces inelastic deformation and, as a…
In this paper the fatigue behaviour of a stainless steel AISI 304L is analysed. In the first part of the work the results obtained under constant amplitude fatigue are presented and synthesised in terms of both stress amplitude and energy…
This paper aims to illustrate the use of infrared thermography as a non-destructive and non-contact technique to observe the phenomenological manifestation of damage in granite under unconfined compression. It allows records and…
The work is devoted to the experimental study of heat dissipation caused by plastic deformation and failure processes taking place in a titanium alloy Ti-4.2Al-1.6Mn. To investigate the spatial and time evolution of temperature, a set of…
The work reports the observed fatigue damage of C45 steel specimens tested in a previous work under multiaxial loading conditions and its relationship with the thermal energy dissipation which has been used in the last decades to estimate…
The work is devoted to the experimental study of heat dissipation process caused by fatigue crack propagation. To investigate a spatial and time temperature evolution at the crack tip set of experiments was carried out using specimens with…
In this paper, an experimental procedure to evaluate the elastic-plastic J-integral at the tip of a fatigue crack is presented. According to this new approach, the elastic component of the J-integral is derived from Thermoelastic Stress…
