This paper reports results of fatigue tests of friction stir welded (FSW) aluminium tubes. Relatively small 38 mm diameter tubes were used and hence an automated FSW process using a retracting tool was designed for this project, as the…
Fatigue takes a place more and more important in the design of structures, it remains a key point in the mechanical dimensioning of structures. The Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process is regarded today as the most promising alternative to…
This paper reports hardness testing conducted on welded butt joints by FSW and TIG welding process on similar and dissimilar aluminium alloys. FSW joints were produced for similar alloys of AA7075T651 and dissimilar alloys of AA7075T651…
The friction stir welding FSW is a topical technique to date, either for experimental or numerical research topics. Based on the fact that the majority of the heat generated, comes from the contact between the workpiece and the shoulder…
An analytical model is developed to predict fatigue crack propagation rate under mode I loading in 2024 aluminum alloy with FSW HAZ material characteristics. Simulation of the HAZ local properties in parent 2024 AA was performed with…
This study examines the changes in microstructure and mechanical properties of friction stir-welded (FSW) dissimilar joints between AA2014-T6 and AA5052-H32 aluminium alloys, with an emphasis on optimizing tool rotation speed for enhanced…
In fracture mechanics (domain of cracked environments), it is concerned to forecast the behavior of the structures until their ruin. Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a new process for solid-state joining, it can weld high strength aluminum…
Performance of Friction Stir Welding (FSW) as a solid-state process is approved in several engineering applications, especially aluminum industries. Identification of mechanical behavior of the associated welded zone is necessary due to…
Friction stir welding (FSW) is an extremely complex process because it depends on the intrinsic and extrinsic factors of the material under consideration. The purpose of the present work is to formulate a set of recommendations concerning…
Aircraft have been manufactured for decades using a wide variety of welding and joining techniques. There have been significant developments in techniques over the last 15–20 years. In civil aeronautical industry the main materials used for…
The present study focused on the evaluation of critical influencing parameters of the FSW of AA6061-T6 and AA2024-T351 alloys. The materials properties of AA6061-T6 are heat-treatable alloys possessing properties of good resistance to…
Welding is a technique of fusion joining the material involving a process of inter-molecular diffusion adhesion. Polymer welding is an assembly method among several known assembly techniques such as gluing. This welding process applies to…
The effect of processing parameters on the mechanical and metallurgical properties of dissimilar joints of AA6082–AA6061 produced by friction stir welding was analysed in this study. Different FSW samples were produced by varying the…
In questo studio sono stati caratterizzati giunti Friction Stir Welding e Linear Friction Welding su compositi a matrice in lega di alluminio e rinforzo particellare ceramico. Il processo FSW è stato applicato a due compositi ottenuti con…
As it is imperative to control the materials development processes well, in parallel, it will be necessary to constantly adapt very efficient assembly methods. Friction stir welding makes it much easier for us to fusion the aluminum alloys…
Friction stir spot welding (FSSW) is a very important part of conventional friction stir welding (FSW) which can be a replacement for riveted assemblies and resistance spot welding. This technique provides high quality joints compared to…
