The ultimate goal in hot roll pass design is to manufacture a rolled product with the required dimensional accuracy, defect free surface, and mechanical properties. The proper selection of process parameters is crucial to meet increasing…
The fatigue life prediction model of self-piecing riveting components of aluminum alloy is established and the effects of roughness and residual stress on fatigue life of self-piercing riveting components is analyzed by the model. Finite…
SS 316Ti is widely used in bellows industry and is a good candidate material for high temperature bellows in sodium cooled fast reactor (SFR) systems. Typical operating temperature experienced by SFR systems is around 823K. Design of…
Though the principle of orthogonal experimental design, the uniaxial compression experiment and uniaxial tensile experiment were carried out on nine groups of high toughness cementitious composites with different mixing ratios to study the…
The presence of grouting defects emanating from construction operations constitutes a major threat to the structural integrity of the grouted sleeve connection of precast concrete members. This work presents a location-based assessment of…
In this paper, a fatigue strength analysis approach based on Goodman-Smith fatigue limit diagram （GSFLD） and reliability theory is proposed to solve the problem that the traditional fatigue strength analysis of bogie frame is too…
In order to study the mechanical behavior of reactive powder concrete (RPC) filled square steel tubular columns, this paper designs an eccentric compression experiment for 12 specimens of RPC filled square steel tubular column and studies…
Multiaxial high cycle fatigue is a topic that concerns nearly all industrial domains. In recent years, a great deal of recommendations how to address problems with multiaxial fatigue life time estimation have been made and a huge progress…
The technology of energy piles for heat storage involves turning the concrete piles buried beneath the ground into a part of the ground-source heat pump system and burying the heat-transfer tubes in the foundation piles, which are regarded…
The aim of the paper was investigation crack initiation and fracture features developed during compression of Fe-based bulk metallic glass (BMG). These Fe-based BMG has received great attention as a new class of structural material due to…
The idea of “hybrid joints” arises from the need of joining together materials, producing a tough, stiff and lightweight joint. The core concept is: use two different joining techniques, with the aim to increase the strength and gather the…
In this study, mix proportion parameters of high strength concrete (HSC) were analyzed by using the Taguchi’s experiment design methodology for optimal design. For that purpose, mixtures are designed in a L27 orthogonal array with six…
Aluminum composites with varied weight percentages of 0-2.5 B4C particles and micro- and nanoparticle sizes were fabricated by stir-casting. The material's mechanical and wear characteristics were evaluated. We used dry pin-on-disc wear…
The availability of engineering strength data on shape memory alloys (SMAs) under cyclic thermal activation (functional fatigue) is central to the rational design of smart actuators based on these materials. Test results on SMAs under…
In this study, a multi-parameter analysis, using Taguchi method for design of experiments, has been conducted to investigate the optimum curing conditions for GNPs/E-glass fabric/epoxy laminated nanocomposites. The independent variables in…
The impact of n-B4C on the mechanical and tribological behavior of Al7075 particle reinforced composites were assessed by analyzing samples of the resultant nano-composites for micro-structure, hardness, tensile strength, and wear behavior…
Initiation and propagation of ductile fractures are a major consideration during the design of high-pressure pipelines. Consequences of a pipeline failure can be catastrophic thus structural integrity must be ensured over several decades.…
