Fatigue characterization of a crankshaft steel: Use and interaction of new models

Sergio Blasón, Cristina Rodríguez, Alfonso Fernández-Canteli

The peculiar geometrical shape and working conditions of crankshafts make fatigue becoming responsible for most of the failure cases in such components. Therefore, improvement of crankshaft performance requires enhancing its fatigue life.…

L’applicazione della diffrattometria dei raggi X per l’analisi del cedimento dei componenti meccanici

Mario Guagliano

X-ray diffraction is a well-known experimental technique for measuring residual stresses in metallic materials. If XRD is applied to the fracture surface of a broken part it becomes a fractographical technique, that is to say that it is…

Multiaxial fatigue assessment of crankshafts by local stress and critical plane approach

M. Leitner, F. Grun, Z. Tuncali, R. Steiner, W. Chen

For multiaxially-loaded parts several stress-based fatigue assessment concepts are applicable mostly taking uniaxial test results as basis. These approaches work well in case of proportional loading states, but on contrary, for…
