The aim of the paper was investigation crack initiation and fracture features developed during compression of Fe-based bulk metallic glass (BMG). These Fe-based BMG has received great attention as a new class of structural material due to…
In order to reveal the differences and conversion relations between the tensile, compressive and flexural moduli of cement stabilized macadam, in this paper, we develop a new test method for measuring three moduli simultaneously. By using…
The study deals with the effect of load history during threshold and fatigue crack propagation measurements in the near threshold regime. The compression pre cracking and the stepwise increasing load amplitude test was applied. The effects…
The evaluation of fracture mechanics parameters of materials has become very important part of considering the condition of older constructions as well as properties of newly developed materials. This contribution focuses on a numerical…
The results of the investigation of both mechanical and acoustic emission (AE) behaviors of Mg4Li5Al alloy subjected to compression and tensile tests at room temperature are compared with the test results obtained using the same alloy and…
In this work has been estimated the compressive strength of a unidirectional lamina of a carbon/epoxy composite material, using the cross-ply and angle-ply laminates. Over the years various methods have been developed to deduce compressive…
The aim of this work is to investigate the mechanical behavior of sandwich structures when subjected to edgewise and flatwise compression loadings, using 2D Digital Image Correlation (DIC). These structures are made of Glass Fiber…
Recently, engineering blasting is widely applied in projects such as rock mineral mining, construction of underground cavities and field-leveling excavation. Dynamic mechanical performance of rocks has been gradually attached importance…
This study concerns the multiaxial static and fatigue strength properties. Short-glass-fibre-reinforced phenolic-resin composites (SGP) molded by injection and compression processes were subjected to tensiontorsion combined static and…
The displacement field in a circular disc made of a transversely isotropic material is explored in a parametric manner. The disc is assumed to be loaded by a parabolic distribution of compressive radial stresses along two finite arcs of…
The research focuses on examining the impact of technological defects, specifically "dry-spot" and "wrinkles," on the mechanical behavior and buckling resistance of structural composites. The investigation of the buckling phenomenon was…
Hybridization of natural fiber composite by incorporating waste- derived fillers has been identified as a promising sustainable technique to develop environmentally friendly and economical composites with enhanced mechanical properties.…
Looking at the long-time behaviour of a dam, it is necessary to assume that the water can penetrate a possible crack washing away some components of the concrete. This type of corrosion reduces the tensile strength and fracture energy of…
Partial confinement can provide sufficient reinforcement to enhance the compressive strength and ductility of concrete with lesser confining material. This paper presents the results of an axial compression test conducted on eighteen plain…
This paper is oriented to the experimental research of the mechanics of the CFRP sandwich plates, glass and carbon fiber sample panels with a large-cell honeycomb core. The method for testing polymer composite sample plates in compression…
In order to solve the technical problem of damage localization in the concrete damage process, the Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning test and Acoustic Emission (AE) damage localization test was carried out under uniaxial compression.…
Two series of uniaxial and triaxial compression tests including unloading-reloading cycles were performed under different confining pressures, in order to study the stress-strain and the deformation behavior of a pozzolanic lime mortar…
The stress field developed in a circular semi-ring under the combined action of diametral compression and bending is explored both analytically and numerically. The analytic solution is implemented by means of the complex potentials…
