Mixed mode crack propagation analysis has been more accessible with the development of new numerical tools, allowing to evaluate the influence of non-mode I loadings in the crack path and in the growth rate. The aim of this work is to…
Structures subjected to severe loads, such as earthquakes, often develop cracks at the beam-column joints, underscoring the significance of these regions in design. This study focuses on a comparative analysis of beam-column joints…
Due to their severe operating conditions, many industrial components are subjected to complex combinations of cyclic mechanical stresses and thermal pressures. These combinations are responsible for the initiation and propagation of…
Cold-formed steel (CFS) structural members retain their positions in the lightweight construction industry. This is due to the significant advantages of CFS. The optimization of these CFS elements will allow the construction of economical…
In order to study the mechanical behavior of reactive powder concrete (RPC) filled square steel tubular columns, this paper designs an eccentric compression experiment for 12 specimens of RPC filled square steel tubular column and studies…
To meet the design requirements, different types of defects are often machined on the surface of fatigue components. Local stress concentration formed at the notch accelerate the initiation of fatigue crack, therefore greatly shorten the…
Bonded assemblies are widely used in many industrial sectors mainly in the aerospace field. Many researches in these domains are focused on evaluating the stresses in the adhesive layer in order to achieve maximum strength and long service…
The objective of this work is to study the effects of contact parameters on the cracking parameters of a specimen and a pad assembly. These parameters have been studied and evaluated by the finite element method analysis in two dimensions…
Extra-deep drawing is one of the most important sheet metal forming processes. The appearance of rupture and wrinkling are the most commonly encountered problems in this process. These defects are also very common at a local company…
The volume fraction effect of carbon fiber in an epoxy matrix in the vicinity of the notch on the traction and torsion behavior were studied. This volume fraction which increases with the reduction of the thickness is a parameter which…
Currently, cellular steel beams are widely used by structural engineers and major companies due to their useful structural applications and serviceable performance. However, these types of steel beams are susceptible to different states of…
Multi-cluster staged fracturing technology is an effective measure to stimulate the reservoir properties. However, the inter-cluster interference effect is obvious when the cluster spacing is very narrow, which seriously affects the effect…
Understanding the deformation response of the material involving thinning under small punch loading is vital to ensure structural integrity. This paper systematically investigates the effects of plastic hardening on the thinning process…
Ground steel storage tanks are widely used in different industries. Regarding the significance of these structures, ensuring the proper performance of such structures in earthquakes needs evaluating their seismic performance. The present…
This paper is concerned with investigating of the plastic behaviour on gap K-joints of truss girders, made from thin-walled rectangular hollow section members. An experimental study was carried out on a full-scale girder under a…
Nowadays, any structure must have strength, robustness and lightness, which has increased the industrial interest and research efforts in adhesive joining, mainly in the improvement of strength and fracture properties of adhesives. Thus…
An analytical investigation using ABAQUS/Explicit dynamic analysis was carried out to investigate the effect of using Micro/Nano silica in the presence of steel fibers on improving the dynamic response of reinforced concrete beams.…
This paper discusses the application of machine learning techniques, notably artificial neural networks (ANN), in the fracture analysis of semi-infinite elastic plates with edge cracks. The Stress Intensity Factor (SIF) model for a…
The detachment plates 2024T3 by an Araldite adhesive is studied in this work by using the finite element method to predict the damage in traction and compression behavior under the effect of geometrical parameters such as the lap length…
