Multiaxial fatigue failure criteria are formulated in time and frequency domain. The number of frequency domain criteria is rather small and the most popular one is the equivalent von Mises stress criterion. This criterion was elaborated…
The flexural failure of plain concrete beam occurs along with development of flexural crack on beam. In this paper by using ABAQUS, mechanism failure of plain concrete beam under three steps have been simulated. The cracking moment has…
Multiaxial fatigue behavior is an important topic in critical structural components. In the present study the biaxial-planar fatigue behavior of a powder metallurgical TRIP steel (Transformation Induced Plasticity) was studied by taking…
Filtering techniques have been proposed for multiaxial load histories, usually aiming to filter out non-reversals, i.e. sampling points that do not constitute a reversal in any of its stress or strain components. However, the path between…
Cracks at notches deserve special consideration in the design of steam turbine components. This work is addressed to investigate the crack initiation behavior a 10%Cr rotor steel with the help of notched specimens under service-type…
This study discusses fatigue properties of low carbon steel, type SS400 steel, under non-proportional loading. Multiaxial fatigue tests under proportional and non-proportional loading conditions with various stress amplitudes were carried…
The minimum plastic zone radius (MPZR) criterion is one of the recent criterions to estimate crack initiation direction under mixed mode loading. The MPZR theory is based on the theoretical computations of plastic zone size (PZS). In this…
Fatigue lifetime assessment is essential in the design of structures. Under-estimated predictions may result in unnecessary in service inspections. Conversely, over-estimated predictions may have serious consequences on the integrity of…
Welded joints are frequently locations for cracks initiation and propagation that may cause fatigue failure of engineering structures. Biaxial or triaxial stress-strain states are present in the vicinity of welded joints, due to local…
The current work presents a novel methodology for the experimental quantification of the crack tip plastic zone during fatigue crack growth. This methodology is based on the application of yield criteria to estimate the area and the shape…
Stress controlled multiaxial fatigue test was carried out using a hollow cylinder specimen of type 316 stainless steel. A newly developed fatigue testing machine which can apply push-pull loading and reversed torsion loading and inner…
The paper presents an experimental analysis of the state of stress, free supported on the edge of a steel – titanium circular perforated plate loaded with a centrally concentrated force, created in the technological process of explosion…
Tibia is one of the bones that often fracture, generally occurring due to a car accident, falling from high places, work accidents, and sports injuries. Internal fixation is one of the solutions to repair broken bones. In some cases…
Given the field of application and the many advantages, the use of FGM (Functionally Graded Materials) materials has recently been extended in several components and more particularly in cylindrical structures, which have been the subject…
A study on the accuracy of the approximation of the displacement field around of crack tip in a sample made from bridge steel (S355) is main objective of contribution. Linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) theory in framework of…
ABSTRACT. The paper presents an analysis of an isotropic circular axisymmetric perforated plate loaded with concentrated force Pi applied in the geometric center of the plate using finite element software ANSYS. The test plate with…
The paper presents the results of the analysis of the influence of the applied plate layer on the state of stress in the bimetallic perforated plate. The finite element method ANSYS program was used for numerical calculations. The paper…
Research on determining the lifetime of an expansion bellows designed to compensate the difference in expansion between the shell and the tubes in a fixed tube sheet heat exchanger has never ceased because of its Importance in a heat…
In the present study, Composite material consisting of an elastic homogeneous isotropic matrix in which are embedded coated elastic isotropic inclusions, widely used in many applications is investigate by homogenization approach coupled to…
This paper presents a system of plastic flow equations which uses and generalizes to the multiaxial case a number of concepts commonly employed in the so-called Local Strain Approach to low cycle fatigue. Everything is built upon the idea…
Ultrasonic fatigue at an operating frequency of 20 kHz was conducted on thermally treated clay bricks at 500, 750, and 1000 °C with a holding time of 5 h, using a three-point bending setup to assess their fatigue endurance. A Vickers…
The paper presents the stress distribution along the plate thickness in a bimetallic steel – titanium circular, axially symmetrical perforated plate produced in the technological process of explosion welding. The steel layer is the layer…
Numerous components designed for use at elevated temperatures now exhibit multiaxial stress states as a result of geometric modification and material inhomogeneity. It is necessary to anticipate the creep rupture life of such components…
