Microwave heating-assisted ore grinding and crushing can effectively increase the dissociation energy of minerals and decrease energy consumption. Microcrack growth and distribution characteristics inside different shapes of ore particles…
Rocks may exhibit time-dependent behaviors. Long-term strength criterion significantly dominates creep failure of rocks. Rocks contain many microcracks, which lead to degrade of long-term strength. In this paper, it is assumed that there…
Rock fracture mechanics has been widely applied to blasting, hydraulic fracturing, mechanical fragmentation, rock slope analysis, geophysics, earthquake mechanics and many other science and technology fields. Development of failure in…
A fluidic amplifier is a crucial automatic control component in a liquid jet hammer used to drill hard formations in the oil industry. This study aims to determine the true causes of the fracture failure of baseplates in a fluidic…
The current work aims to investigate the mechanical properties of rare oxide reinforced Mg alloy based MMCs. Magnesium matrix considered in the study is AZ91D alloy, whereas rare earth oxides reinforced were CeO2 and Y2O3. The Y2O3…
Currently, the reinforcement of ordinary concrete with synthetic fibers poses ecological problems because the manufacturing process of these products is very polluting. Plant fiber composites are a new challenge for environmental…
Predicting the failure of carbon fiber composites remains a challenge due to the complex evolution of damage, where the collective behavior of defects like pores and microcracks dictates material strength. The objective of this work is to…
In this paper, the effect of welding parameters of rotary friction welding between AA6063 and AISI4130 and AA6063 and Copper are investigated. The major influencing parameters considered are upset pressure, friction time and friction…
This work deals with the coupling between a periodic homogenization procedure and a damage process occurring in a RVE of inclusion composite materials. We mainly seek on the one hand to determine the effective mechanical properties…
The fracture behavior of quasi-brittle materials such as concrete is characterized by the presence of a fracture process zone (FPZ) that precedes the main crack. Within this zone, various mechanisms, including the formation of microcracks…
Concrete is a porous material containing aggregate of different sizes, hardened cement matrix with air pores, microcracks and water. Concrete internal structure is different from that of other engineering materials. Furthermore concrete is…
The aim of this work is to investigate the mechanical behavior of sandwich structures when subjected to edgewise and flatwise compression loadings, using 2D Digital Image Correlation (DIC). These structures are made of Glass Fiber…
Brittle rock contains an important plastic deformation, which causes microcracks when coupled with stress-induced damage. A new coupled elastoplastic damage model is established in order to discuss the damage behaviors found in brittle…
