Sensitivity analysis of the GTN damage parameters at different temperature for dynamic fracture propagation in X70 pipeline steel using neural network

Abdelmoumin Ouladbrahim, Idir Belaidi, Samir Khatir, Erica Magagnini, Roberto Capozucca, Magd Abdel Wahab

In this paper, the initial and maximum load was studied using the Finite Element Modeling (FEM) analysis during impact testing (CVN) of pipeline X70 steel. The Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN) constitutive model has been used to simulate…

Numerical simulation of dynamic brittle fracture of pipeline steel subjected to DWTT using XFEM-based cohesive segment technique

Reza H. Talemi

In the past several numerical studies have addressed the ductile mode of fracture propagation. However, the brittle mode of pipeline failure has not received as much attention yet. The main objective of this study is to predict brittle…

Fatigue crack propagation in welded joints X70

Adel Deliou, Benattou Bouchouicha

Structural failure assessment approaches take into account local parameters, specimen geometry, loading and material. In the case of welded joints, in addition to these parameters, consideration must be given to the effect of the…

Pipeline repair by composite patch under temperature and Pressure loading

Elamine Abdelouahed, H. Benzaama, M. Mokhtari, B. Aour

In this study, the three-dimensional finite element method is used to analyze an API 5L X70 steel cylindrical pipeline subjected to an internal pressure load by calculating the stress intensity factors and the integral J at the peak of…

Using XFEM to Predict the Damage with Temperature of the Steel Pipe Elbows under Bending and Pressure loading

Nourddine Hammadi, Moahmed Mokhtari, Habib Benzaama, Kouider Madani, Abdelkader Brakna, Elamine Abdelouahed

The pipes, during their service, are subjected to accumulated loads such as internal pressure and that of the soil. The latter considerably accelerate their damage. In this work, the bending moment stress of API 5L X70 category steel…

Numerical modelling of dynamic ductile fracture propagation in different lab-scale experiments using GTN damage model

Benoît Paermentier, Dimitri Debruyne, Reza Talemi

Initiation and propagation of ductile fractures are a major consideration during the design of high-pressure pipelines. Consequences of a pipeline failure can be catastrophic thus structural integrity must be ensured over several decades.…
