The criteria for optimizing shock-wave modes to increase the fatigue life of aircraft engine alloys are discussed with reference to laser shock peening (LSP). They are based on the self-similarity of plastic wave fronts and the kinetics of…
Sandwich panels with polymer composite and light core composites are widely used in aircraft and spacecraft, vessels, trains, submarines, and cars. Due to their high strength to weight ratio, high stability, and high corrosion resistance…
Mechanisms of structural relaxation are linked with the metastability of nonequilibrium potential of solid with defects and the generation of collective modes of defects responsible for the plastic strain and damage localization. It is…
The work is devoted to the study of the Zr-1Nb alloy in coarse-grained and ultrafine-grained states under laser-induced shock-wave loading. This material is of interest due to the application for the manufacture of shells for fuel elements…
Joint theoretical and experimental investigations have allowed to realize an approach with use of mathematical and physical modeling of processes of a shock wave loading of powder materials. In order to gain a better insight into the…
This study investigates spall damage and failure in Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) pressure vessels under explosive internal loading using stimulated electric discharge. Analytical modeling, validation with published experimental…
In wave propagation phenomena, time-advancing numerical methods must accurately represent the amplitude and phase of the propagating waves. The acoustic waves are non-dispersive and non-dissipative. However, the standard schemes both…
