This paper aims to investigate the accuracy of the Theory of Critical Distances (TCD) in estimating static strength of notched additively manufactured PLA as both notch sharpness and infill angle vary. The TCD takes as its starting point…
The paper investigates the use of 3D-printed components made from Polylactic Acid (PLA) for the restoration of architectural and ornamental elements, focusing on architectural/structural components. The material PLA was chosen for its…
This paper addresses the estimation of critical loads in FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) printed polymers and composites containing notches. Particularly, the analysis is focused on the fracture load estimations of 39 PLA (polylactic…
Conductive PLA is an innovative composite material that combines the ecological benefits of polylactic acid, a biodegradable thermoplastic, with electrical conductivity properties. Usually used in additive manufacturing for its ease of…
This work aims to study the influence of protective coatings on the water absorption and mechanical properties of 3D printed poly–lactic acid (PLA) parts. The PLA parts were fabricated with different levels of the 3D printing process…
Adding short carbon fiber reinforcement to thermoplastic matrices can improve the mechanical performance of additively manufactured polymer-based composites. This work examines the flexural behavior of Fused Deposition Modeling…
This study examines the influence of graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on the mechanical properties of SiO2-loaded epoxy-polylactic acid (PLA) composites. Epoxy and PLA were mixed to form the matrix…
This paper aims to disclose the influence law of cracks on instantaneous and long-term deflections of reinforced beam. For this purpose, four concrete beams were created, pre-loaded to varied degrees of cracking, and reinforced with carbon…
Our research described in this paper focused on fabricating and characterising polylactic acid (PLA) composites reinforced with randomly dispersed boron nitride nanoplatelets (BNNP). The integrated experimental analysis with the Finite…
This paper presents a study on the tensile, fracture, damage, and reliability properties of 3D printed polylactic acid (PLA), based on a series of experiments. The study focuses on polylactic acid (PLA) samples produced using fused…
This work investigated the effects of graphene and SiO2 addition on the mechanical and fracture properties of epoxy (80%) - Polylactic acid (PLA) (20 %) composites. Epoxy-PLA composites were loaded with graphene and SiO2 (0.1-0.5 wt. %…
The use of components obtained through the additive manufacturing (AM) technique has become increasingly widespread in recent years, playing a central role in industrial production, and in particular in some fields such as automotive…
The aim of this work is to evaluate the mechanical properties and failure analysis of cellular core structures with different geometries that were obtained by additive manufacturing. Sandwich panels are widely used in the aerospace and…
