During an earthquake, the nonlinearity of the bridge structure mainly occurs at the supports, bridge piers and restrainers. When entering nonlinear stage, members of the bridge structure affect the elasto-plastic seismic response of the…
Modern technological capabilities make it possible to produce 3D spatially-reinforced for polymer composite materials. The tasks of experimental research and analysis of the deformation process of new composite materials for aviation…
It is known that the initial waviness of the fiber affects the stiffness characteristics and strength of the polymer composite material. The article presents a continuum model taking into account the nonlinearity of the longitudinal…
This paper presents an advanced optimization methodology for truss structures, addressing both elasto-plastic design cases—where plastic deformations are controlled within predefined limits—and purely elastic scenarios, in which inelastic…
The evaluation of the seismic vulnerability of existing buildings is becoming very significant nowadays, especially for ancient masonry structures, that represent the cultural and historical heritage of our countries. In this research, the…
The steel plate shear walls (SPSW) are currently being considered as a lateral load resisting system. A numerical method was proposed to have a comprehensive comparison of seismic behaviors of the plane wall (PW) and stiffened plane wall…
Reliable discrimination of small damage states under operational variability requires uncertainty aware Structural Health Monitoring. A pipeline is presented that couples guided wave physics with supervised machine learning to classify…
Paper presents the “in situ” method for determining of irreversible fatigue damage accumulation, based on the analysis of nonlinear manifestations of the feedback signal in a closed system of an ultrasonic fatigue system. During very high…
This work is dedicated to the experimental study of the influence of preliminary dynamic loading on the residual strength of the laminated polymer composite under compression. A series of low-velocity transverse drop-weight impact tests in…
