This paper deals with the two-way shape memory effect (TWSME) induced on a strip of a nearequiatomic NiTi alloy by means of the shape memory cycling training method. This procedure is based on the deformation in martensite state to reach…
Multiaxial fatigue behavior is an important topic in critical structural components. In the present study the biaxial-planar fatigue behavior of a powder metallurgical TRIP steel (Transformation Induced Plasticity) was studied by taking…
In questo lavoro è stato studiato l'effetto di modeste differenze nel contenuto di carbonio e di azoto sulla deformazione e il comportamento a frattura a temperatura ambiente di un acciaio inossidabile austenitico AISI 304. Nell'acciaio…
The purpose of this study was to understand the behavior of martensitic H13 steel in accordance with the microstructural evolution, mechanical properties and wear in repeated tempering cycles. The microstructures were characterized by axio…
In recent years, mechanical property of many SMA has improved in order to introduce these alloys in specific field of industry. Main examples of these alloys are the NiTi, Cu-Zn-Al and Cu-Al-Ni which are used in many fields of engineering…
Crack tip stress-induced phase transformation mechanisms in nickel-titanium alloys (NiTi) were analyzed by Digital Image Correlation (DIC), under fatigue loads. In particular, Single Edge Crack (SEC) specimens, obtained from a commercial…
Mechanical components fabbricated with quenched and tempered steels, exhibiting mixed microstructures as derived from slant quench conditions, are frequently encountered in the industrial practice, owing to a tendency to employ quite low…
Shape memory alloys (SMAs) are a wide class of materials characterized by the property to recover the initial shape. This property is due to ability of alloys to change the microstructure from a “parent” microstructure (usually called…
The main aim of the research work is to examine the fracture toughness of the dual phase steels prepared using the intermediate quenching method. The ferrite-martensite dual phase (DP) steel is produced using low carbon micro alloyed steel…
Additive manufacturing (AM) could be used to reduce the production times of prototypes; however, further research is required to address metals structural parts. To obtain the correct properties, some relevant factors to be considered are…
This study has used the strain energy density (SED) approach to evaluate the stress intensity factor (SIF) of cracked cruciform welded joints in Hardox 450 steel. A microstructural analysis was made of Hardox 450 steel which is composed of…
This study aims to analyze the effect of thermo mechanical coupling damage in the presence of a phase change (austenite/martensite) in 35NCD16 steel. The impact of increasing mechanical traction load, accompanied by a martensitic…
A new class of material characterized by mechanical properties close to the traditional low and medium carbon steel is the Ductile Cast Irons (DCIs). High castability and low production costs allow them to be used in many fields, ranging…
