Cracking direction in multiaxial low cycle fatigue is an important research subject because crack initiation and propagation behavior is a physical background for developing an estimation method of multiaxial low cycle fatigue lives.…
This paper studies multiaxial low cycle fatigue crack mode and failure life of Ti-6Al-4V. Stress controlled fatigue tests were carried out using a hollow cylinder specimen under multiaxial loadings of ?=0, 0.4, 0.5 and 1 of which stress…
Fatigue considerations often distinguish between fatigue crack nucleation and fatigue crack propagation. The current work presents a modeling approach utilizing one Fatigue Damage Indicator to treat both in a unified way. The approach is…
This work presents an in-depth study of the low-cycle fatigue behaviour of ferritic-pearlitic HSLA-420 high-strength steel sheets, with emphasis on the influence of loading direction on fatigue life and damage mechanisms. Plastic…
This paper discusses the relationship between the stress response and the microstructure under tension-torsion multiaxial proportional and nonproportional loadings. Firstly, this paper discusses the material dependency of additional…
This paper presents a system of plastic flow equations which uses and generalizes to the multiaxial case a number of concepts commonly employed in the so-called Local Strain Approach to low cycle fatigue. Everything is built upon the idea…
In this work, the mechanical properties of Waspaloy superalloy have been evaluated in case of welded repaired material and compared to base material. Test program considered flat specimens on base and TIG welded material subjected to…
The aim of this study is to deal with the simulation of intralaminar fatigue damage in unidirectional composite under multi-axial and variable amplitude loadings. The variable amplitude and multi-axial loading is accounted for by using the…
To meet the design requirements, different types of defects are often machined on the surface of fatigue components. Local stress concentration formed at the notch accelerate the initiation of fatigue crack, therefore greatly shorten the…
Engine components are usually subject to complex loading patterns such as mixed-mode Low Cycle Fatigue Loading due to maneuvering. In practice, this LCF Loading has to be superimposed by High Cyclic Fatigue Loading caused by vibrations.…
Very often computations on structural elements or machine components subjected to variable loading require using an advanced finite element model. This paper reports the numerical implementation of a model for multiaxial cyclic…
In this work, the effect of superimposing of isothermal low cycle fatigue loading to the thermomechanical fatigue loading on the crack propagation behavior of the naturally initiated short crack in Low-carbon nitrogen-controlled 316…
SS 316Ti is widely used in bellows industry and is a good candidate material for high temperature bellows in sodium cooled fast reactor (SFR) systems. Typical operating temperature experienced by SFR systems is around 823K. Design of…
Experimental tests were conducted on additive manufactured Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy to investigate the mechanical and crack properties under multiaxial cyclic loading. Selective Laser Sintering technique (SLS) was employed to fabricate…
A series of strain-controlled multiaxial low cycle fatigue (LCF) tests under proportional and non-proportional loading conditions have been conducted on notched specimens. Cylindrical bars of Al 6061 aluminum alloy and AISI 316L stainless…
The paper analyses the fatigue tests of a specimen made of 16Mo3 steel and 6082-T6 aluminium alloy performed under bending and tensile conditions. It has been shown that in the case of bending of the 16Mo3 steel specimen, in low cycle…
Prediction of cyclic life under low cycle fatigue - high cycle fatigue (LCF-HCF) interaction is of paramount importance in the context of structural integrity of components in the primary side of fast reactors where such damage under…
Some numerical studies of crack propagation are based on using constitutive models that account for damage evolution in the material. When a critical damage value has been reached in a material point, it is natural to assume that this…
In this work the design and the technical characteristic of a Moore rotating bending machine are presented. The machine has been realized at the University of Cassino in order to run tests on multiple specimens at different temperature.…
In this work, the effects of chloride-induced corrosion on tempcore B400c and B450c steel grades are evaluated, in terms of corrosion resistance and mechanical characteristics, after the performance of Tensile and Low Cycle Fatigue…
