Multiaxial fatigue behavior is an important topic in critical structural components. In the present study the biaxial-planar fatigue behavior of a powder metallurgical TRIP steel (Transformation Induced Plasticity) was studied by taking…
In this work, the performance of the SSF criterion is evaluated under variable amplitude loading conditions. The main objective was to inspect the validity of the hypothesis in which the SSF damage map remains valid for any high strength…
While product’s operation the loading situation commonly changes. The local loading situation on an existing crack then can shift to a combined loading, composed of mode I, mode II and mode III, and consequently influence the product’s…
In this study, finite element modeling and experimental studies on a mode-I/III specimen similar to the compact tension specimen are presented. By using bolts, the specimen is attached to two loading apparatus that allow different levels…
The CJP model of crack tip stresses is a modified version of the Williams crack tip stress field which takes account of simplified stress distributions that arise from the presence of a zone of plastic deformation associated with the crack…
Stress controlled multiaxial fatigue test was carried out using a hollow cylinder specimen of type 316 stainless steel. A newly developed fatigue testing machine which can apply push-pull loading and reversed torsion loading and inner…
In order to study the growth mechanism of fatigue cracks in ultrafine grained copper, stress controlled fatigue tests of round-bar specimens with a small blind hole as a crack starter were conducted. The hole was drilled on the surface…
Regarding the fatigue behaviour of EN AC-42000 T6 (A 356 T6), which is the most frequently used cast aluminium alloy for automotive safety components, especially under non-proportional constant and variable normal and shear stress…
The concept of the average stress has been employed to propose the maximum average tangential stress (MATS) criterion for predicting the direction of fracture angle. This criterion states that a crack grows when the maximum average…
Marine structures are particularly prone to action of waves, winds and currents with stochastically varying composition, intensities and directions. Therefore, resultant stresses may cause multiaxial fatigue in specific welded structural…
In this paper the fatigue crack growth tests were carried out on surface-crack tension (SCT) specimens, made of 7050 and Ti6Al4V alloys, with initial semi-elliptical surface cracks. Pure Mode I conditions were realized on SCT specimens…
Complex stresses, which occur on the mechanical surfaces of transport machinery in service, bring a drastic degradation in fatigue life. However, it is hard to reproduce such complex stress states for evaluating the fatigue life with…
The aim of this work is to evaluate the mechanical properties and failure analysis of cellular core structures with different geometries that were obtained by additive manufacturing. Sandwich panels are widely used in the aerospace and…
Nowadays, fibre-reinforced composite materials are widely used in many fields, e.g. automotive and aerospace. Natural fibres such as flax and hemp provide good density specific mechanical properties. Additionally, the embodied production…
The main objective is to model the behavior of 7075 aluminum alloy and built an experimental database to identify the model parameters. The first part of the paper presents an experimental database on 7075 aluminum alloy. Thus, uniaxial…
Cyclic stress-strain response and fatigue damage character has been investigated in austenitic stainless steel 316L. Hollow cylindrical specimens have been cyclically deformed in combined tension-compression and torsion under constant…
The publication presents a cruciform specimen for the determination of cyclic crack growth data under biaxial loading. The design of the specimen with slotted loading arms allows good decoupling between the two loading directions. For…
This work presents an in-depth study of the low-cycle fatigue behaviour of ferritic-pearlitic HSLA-420 high-strength steel sheets, with emphasis on the influence of loading direction on fatigue life and damage mechanisms. Plastic…
This paper discusses the application of machine learning techniques, notably artificial neural networks (ANN), in the fracture analysis of semi-infinite elastic plates with edge cracks. The Stress Intensity Factor (SIF) model for a…
Crack growth and brittle fracture is one of the major failure modes in bone materials and therefore understanding the fracture behavior and affecting parameters on the crack growth resistance of bone is necessary for biomechanics…
