Manufacturing defects are inherent to any manufacturing process. However, in composite materials they might be unavoidable, e.g. ply waviness or even folds of plies are present in complex shaped parts during high pressure resin transfer…
In this paper, we developed a mathematical modeling to represent the damage of thermoplastic pipes. On the one hand, we adapted the theories of the rupture pressure to fit the High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) case. Indeed, the theories for…
Most Chlorinated Poly Vinyl Chloride (CPVC) resins contain 63-69 % chlorine, in particular those used for the extrusion of plumbing tubes, due to this chlorination of basic PVC, CPVC offers a mixture of corrosion resistance and low…
The aim of this work was to evaluate the influence of temperature on the mechanical behavior of an amorphous polymer, namely acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), based on a series of uniaxial tensile tests on smooth specimens at…
By means of numerical experiment the authors investigate dependence of conventional rupturing stress and mechanical fracture energy at uniaxial tension from fractional composition of dispersed filler, plasticizer volume fraction in polymer…
In several industrial applications, plastic, composites and ceramics replace a number of metallic structures such as copper, aluminum and steel. Most recently installed piping water and gas systems in the world are made of thermoplastic…
The need for the fabrication of sustainable aluminium matrix composites (AMCs) is being sought after as practical alternatives to conventional metals and their alloys. This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of sustainable…
The polypropylene random copolymer (PPR) is a thermoplastic material generally used for the transport of water under pressure, especially hot water. PPR pipes are exposed to severe conditions in terms of pressure and temperature, hence the…
The paper presents the fatigue test results including the cracks growth in the composite zirconium-steel subjected to oscillatory bending. Specimens of square cross-section without melted layer and with a melted layer were tested. In the…
In this work, we investigate the behavior of wire ropes subject to corrosion damage. The method is based on accelerated corrosion. Decreasing ultimate force and a loss in rigidity was observed from the static tensile tests made on the…
This study aims to assess the delamination effect and predict the evolution of damage in 3D printed specimens to investigate the mechanical behavior occurring due to the delamination of the layers of 3D printed thermoplastic polymers.…
Rebar corrosion significantly affects the overall performance and the service life of reinforced concrete (RC) structures due to the reduction in the bond strength between concrete and rebar, leading to the delamination of the concrete…
