Crack initiation characteristics and fatigue property of a high-strength steel in very-high-cycle fatigue (VHCF) regime under different stress ratios were investigated in this paper. Fatigue tests were performed at stress ratios of -1…
This work deals with the coupling between a periodic homogenization procedure and a damage process occurring in a RVE of inclusion composite materials. We mainly seek on the one hand to determine the effective mechanical properties…
An exact solution of the stationary thermoelasticity problem about interfacial circular absolutely rigid inclusion, which is in the smooth contact conditions in a piecewise homogeneous transversely homogeneous space, is constructed. The…
In the case of particle reinforced composites, where the particles are in a form of sharp material inclusions, singular stress concentration exists on each tip of each inclusion. This is due to the geometric and material discontinuities…
A geometrically simplified plane elasticity problem of a finite small crack emanating from a thin interfacial zone surrounding the circular inclusion situated in the finite bounded domain is investigated. The crack is arbitrarily oriented…
An inhomogeneous distribution of non-metallic inclusions can result from the steel casting process. The aim of the present study was to investigate the damaging effect of an inhomogeneous distribution of nonmetallic inclusions on the crack…
The influence of environmental medias on crack propagation of a structural steel at high and very high-cycle fatigue (VHCF) regimes is investigated based on the fatigue tests performed in air, water and 3.5% NaCl aqueous solution. Crack…
This paper concerns the results of research into the influence of the composition of rock inclusions on the fracture response of cement-based composite specimens. Specially designed specimens of the nominal dimensions 40 × 40 × 160 mm with…
The fracture properties of thin aluminum inclusions embedded in anisotropic paperboardcomposites, of interest for food and beverage packaging industry, can be determined by performing tensile testson non-conventional heterogeneous…
The profile samples prepared by focused ion beam (FIB) in crack initiation region (CIR) and fish-eye (FiE) region of failed specimens subjected to rotary bending (RB) and ultrasonic axial (UL) fatigue testing with various stress ratios (R)…
Hybridization of natural fiber composite by incorporating waste- derived fillers has been identified as a promising sustainable technique to develop environmentally friendly and economical composites with enhanced mechanical properties.…
The present study aims to develop a novel hybrid composite by incorporating clamshell as a secondary reinforcing filler into a bamboo-epoxy composite. The primary objective of this hybridization is to optimize the synergistic benefits of…
An experimental technique is presented to evaluate mechanical and thermal load-induced microstructural damage, based on the Electron Probe Micro-Analysis (EPMA) principle, by which certain analytical potentialities of Scanning Electron…
The novel non-destructive method for quantitative description of low-cycle fatigue damage accumulation is expanded to a case of contact interaction in the stress concentration area. Investigated objects are plane aluminium specimens with…
Abstract. Fatigue crack growth (FCG) depends on loading, geometry and also material properties. Since FCG is supposedly linked to crack tip plastic deformation, material’s yield stress, Y0, is an important parameter. The main objective…
Improvement of nondestructive inspection techniques has allowed more frequent detection of closely spaced zones of non-metallic inclusions in pressure vessels made of low carbon steel. In the present study, closely spaced inclusions in an…
Interfacial interaction is investigated between the two basic constituents in carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRPs). Efforts have been made to quantify the interfacial shear strength (IFSS) between individual carbon fiber (CF) and epoxy…
In the field of composite materials, extensive research has been undertaken on aluminum-graphite composites. However, a research gap has been identified regarding the specific influence of nano-sized graphite particles on their fracture…
