This study presents an experimentally calibrated methodology to enhance the predictive accuracy of finite element simulations for Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) parts in Abaqus by replacing idealized filament geometry with a physically…
Hybrid continuous fiber–reinforced composites produced by fused deposition modeling (FDM) offer a promising solution for lightweight load-bearing structures. However, their mechanical performance is strongly governed by internal…
The use of components obtained through the additive manufacturing (AM) technique has become increasingly widespread in recent years, playing a central role in industrial production, and in particular in some fields such as automotive…
This study investigates the mechanical behavior of 3D-printed polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG) polymer specimens subjected to tensile and shear testing, with a particular focus on the influence of raster orientation and shell…
Porous materials are defined as materials that contain holes, voids, or spaces in their structures, which can be interconnected or isolated. In the most complex forms of these materials, the holes can have irregular shapes with a random…
Adding short carbon fiber reinforcement to thermoplastic matrices can improve the mechanical performance of additively manufactured polymer-based composites. This work examines the flexural behavior of Fused Deposition Modeling…
Additive manufacturing techniques continue to develop and cover all industrial fields. However, the performances of aspect and mechanical behavior of the parts obtained by this process remain to be mastered and are still the subject of…
Additive manufacturing (AM) is a promising way to produce complex structures by adding layers. It arises great interest both in industrial and academic sectors to develop new advanced structured material. To benefit from its advantages, it…
The aim of this work is to evaluate the mechanical properties and failure analysis of cellular core structures with different geometries that were obtained by additive manufacturing. Sandwich panels are widely used in the aerospace and…
This paper addresses the estimation of critical loads in FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) printed polymers and composites containing notches. Particularly, the analysis is focused on the fracture load estimations of 39 PLA (polylactic…
While Additive Manufacturing (AM) of polymers has matured from rapid prototyping to functional production, the layer-wise fabrication process introduces significant mechanical anisotropy and microstructural heterogeneity, which complicates…
In the present work the temperature profile variations generated in rectangular specimens built using the Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) process, at different printing speeds and orientations, were investigated. The temperature recordings…
