Use of FBG sensors for monitoring cracks of the equestrian statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni in Venice

F. Felli, A. Brotzu, D. Pilone, C. Vendittozzi

The Bartolomeo Colleoni monument suffered for years damage from the local climate. The process of restoring the Colleoni equestrian statue, started in 2003, allowed to understand how the bronze statue was originally cast and manufactured…

Railway overhead contact wire monitoring system by means of FBG sensors

Erwin Ciro Zuleta, Carla Lupi, Ferdinando Felli, Claudio Paris, Cristian Vendittozzi

Safety of infrastructures represents one of the most significant concerns for governments and service providers to preserve people's well-being. One of the main ways to keep in safe facilities (buildings, bridges, railways, etc.) involves…

Numerical analysis of the strain values obtained by FBG embedded in a composite material using assumptions about uniaxial stress state of the optical fiber and capillary on the Bragg grating

Natalia Aleksandrovna Kosheleva, Valerii Matveenko, Grigorii Serovaev, Andrey Fedorov

One of the issues in the strain measurement with the help of fiber-optic sensors based on Bragg gratings is the calculation of the strain based on the information from the sensor and its correspondence to the material strain. Relationships…
