In recent years, very-high-cycle fatigue (VHCF) behavior of metallic materials has become a major point of interest for researchers and industries. The needs of specific industrial fields (aerospace, mechanical and energy industry) for…
Lately porous shape memory alloys (SMA) have attracted great interest as low weight materials characterized by high energy dissipation capability. In the present contribution a micromechanical study of porous SMA is proposed, introducing…
The aim of the paper is to estimate a value of the critical applied stress for a crack initiation from a sharp V-notch tip. The classical approach of the linear elastic fracture mechanics (LELM) was generalized, because the stress…
Residual stresses are often inevitably introduced into the material during the fabrication processes, such as welding, and are known to have significant effects on the subsequent fatigue crack growth behavior of welded structures. In this…
Microwave heating-assisted ore grinding and crushing can effectively increase the dissociation energy of minerals and decrease energy consumption. Microcrack growth and distribution characteristics inside different shapes of ore particles…
An analytical study of longitudinal fracture in two-dimensional functionally graded cantilever beam configurations is carried-out with taking into account the non-linear behavior of material. A longitudinal crack is located arbitrary along…
A computational simulation of low-cycle fatigue behaviour of lotus-type porous material, subjected to biaxial in-phase loading cycles is presented in this paper. Fatigue properties of porous materials are less frequently published in the…
The fracture process zone (FPZ) was investigated on unnotched and notched beams with different notch depths. Three point bending tests were realized on plain concrete under crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) control. Crack growth was…
During the last years many researchers put so much effort to design layered structures combining different materials in order to improve low fracture toughness and mechanical reliability of the ceramics. It has been proven, that an…
On the mode O existence in three-dimensional plates weakened by circular and elliptical holes under mode II loading It is known for long time that in a cracked plate subjected to anti-symmetric plane loading, the Poisson’s effect leads to…
This paper describes the results of the temperature monitoring of a frozen wall (FW) around the skip shaft of a potash mine under construction. The data on temperature measurements in control-thermal boreholes were used to parameterize the…
In the last years, a large amount of fatigue test results from plain and bluntly notched specimens made of AISI 304L stainless steel were synthetized in a single scatter band by adopting the specific heat loss per cycle (Q) as a damage…
Laser shock peening (LSP) is used to enhance surface quality of the metallic structures by the generation of compressive residual stresses on it. This work studies the effect of the main LSP parameters on residual stress fields by the…
A geometrically simplified plane elasticity problem of a finite small crack emanating from a thin interfacial zone surrounding the circular inclusion situated in the finite bounded domain is investigated. The crack is arbitrarily oriented…
Limited by the mechanical properties of materials, silicon (Si) carbide insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) can no longer meet the requirements of high power and high frequency electronic devices. Silicon carbide (SiC) IGBT…

Simulating the concrete fracture unlike other elastic and brittle materials quite different due to its quasibrittleness. The present research focussed on assess softening behavior by varying different fractions of aggregates and cement…
Aluminum alloys are widely used in the automobile industry because of their excellent mechanical strength, low weight, and remarkable resistance to corrosion and wear. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the microstructure…
Lock-In thermography can be used to investigate elastic stresses and dissipative effects in dynamic processes like crack propagation. The evaluation normally is performed with a Discrete Fourier Transformation resulting in E- and…
