The modified compact tension (MCT) test, though not yet recognized as a valid test for determining fracture energy of concrete, is believed to represent a plausible and suitable alternative versus other well established procedures, such as…
The modified disk shaped compact tension test is a configuration derived from standard compact tension test that is used for measuring fracture mechanical properties of primarily metallic materials. The compact tension configuration is…
The fracture mechanical properties of silicate based materials are determined from various fracture mechanicals tests, e.g. three- or four- point bending test, wedge splitting test, modified compact tension test etc. For evaluation of the…
The evaluation of fracture mechanics parameters of materials has become very important part of considering the condition of older constructions as well as properties of newly developed materials. This contribution focuses on a numerical…
The modified compact tension test (MCT) may represent a new test configuration for the performance of static and other kinds of fatigue tests on concrete-like materials. Core drilling can be employed to obtain specimens which are…
The reduced state of stress triaxiality observed in shallow cracked components allows an increased capacity to resist crack propagation compared to that observed in deeply cracked specimens. This may be regarded as a higher fracture…
The paper describes test specimen thickness effect on stress intensity factor (KI), and T-stresses stresses (T11 and T33) for a Compact Tension specimen. Formulations to estimate 3D KI, T11 and T33 stresses are proposed based on extensive…
Statistical Fracture Mechanics, formalism of few natural ideas is applied to simulation of cracktrajectories in brittle material. The “diffusion approximation” of the crack diffusion model represents cracktrajectories as a one-dimensional…
Vast number of theoretical and experimental works has been devoted to the study of discontinuous plastic deformation (the Portevin-Le Chatelier effect), which manifests itself for most widely used alloys in certain ranges of both…
