The damage evolution in a single domain aluminium/alumina freeze-cast composite has been examined using 3D X-ray computed tomography (CT). A single domain was extracted and loaded incrementally at an orientation of 45° to the lamellae…
In this paper the process of dynamic indentation, causing deformation and fracture of alumina ceramics, is investigated. The dynamic indentation experiments were carried out on the original setup based on the split Hopkinson bar technique.…
The realization of a connection between a ceramic and a metal is always accompanied by the creation of a multi-axial stress field. Different physical and mechanical origins explain the genesis of stresses at the bonding interface in the…
In the current investigation, efforts are being made to produce an Al2014-Al2O3p composite with variable particle size of 88 mm by liquid stir casting route. 9, 12 and 15 weight proportions of Al2O3p were added to the Al2014 base alloy. By…
In this scientific work, a new shear deformation theory for free vibration analysis of simply supported rectangular functionally graded plate embedded in an elastic medium is presented. Due to technical problems during the fabrication…
Experimental loading and FEM simulation-based approach at macroscale are utilized to investigate the failure mechanisms of Al2O3 ceramics. Experimental characterization of microstructure is carried out using SEM. Recently the microscale…
A present study reveals the influence of nano Al2O3 and ZrO2 reinforcements on the fracture toughness of Hybrid Metal matrix Composites (HMMCs) made of Al6061 alloy. Composites are synthesized by varying weight fraction of alumina and…
In this study, Al2O3 microparticle was used as a filler for pineapple fiber reinforced composites with different matrix polymers. The effect of Al2O3 microparticles in the epoxy and unsaturated polyester matrix on the mechanical, physical…
Having Low density and being Light weight with better mechanical properties, aluminum is the most significant material and is universally used in highly critical applications like navy, aerospace and particularly automotive activities.…
