Currently, the reinforcement of ordinary concrete with synthetic fibers poses ecological problems because the manufacturing process of these products is very polluting. Plant fiber composites are a new challenge for environmental…
Concrete is one of the most widely used materials in the world. Still, its production processes, energy consumption, and high use of raw materials make it one of the most environmentally harmful materials. This study aims to enhance the…
In Peru, research on cracking in concrete slabs has been limited, partly due to the perception that cracks do not pose an immediate problem. However, their cumulative effect over the long term can compromise structural durability…
This paper presents new analytical model of asymmetric mixed-mode bending (MMB) specimen of adhesively bonded pultruded GFRP joints. An easily applicable relationship for the calculation of the strain energy release rate of the asymmetric…
Two parallel comparative ‘Conventional Method and Computer Simulation using ANSYS software’ for prediction of crack growth and its behavior in optical fiber are studied and presented in this work. Corresponding finite element analysis was…
The present experimental study includes testing thirteen reinforced concrete beams with openings at different locations to investigate the efficiency of strengthening such openings. Different strengthening techniques around the opening…
The machinability of polymer matrix composites with fibers strongly depends on the type of fiber and dosage in question, having a high influence on the selection of tools and cutting parameters. The cutting temperature depends of rotation…
The aim of this work is to investigate the mechanical behavior of sandwich structures when subjected to edgewise and flatwise compression loadings, using 2D Digital Image Correlation (DIC). These structures are made of Glass Fiber…
This paper investigates numerically the behavior of Reinforced Concrete (RC) beams, strengthened using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) sheets, subjected to impact loading. Three-dimensional finite element analysis was performed and…
This paper aims to analyze the multi-effects of the glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite patch to repair the inclined cracked 2420-T3 aluminum plate. Three-dimensional finite element method (FEM) was used to study the effect of…
This paper investigates the possibility of combining steel fibers with different weight percentages along with their functions in increasing compressive strength, indirect tensile strength and bending strength. In this study, two types of…
The use of bonded externally polymer reinforced fiber (FRP) Laminates has been introduced as an effective approach in rehabilitating (RC) structures due to their high strength, corrosion resistance, reduced weight, and ease of use. This…
Experimental and numerical programs were invoked to investigate the effect of concrete cover and area of main steel reinforcement on the flexural behavior of strengthened RC beams by near-surface mounted glass fiber reinforced polymeric…
The aim of this work is to evaluate the failure analysis of jute fabric reinforced composite using statistical technique for marine applications. A fracture mechanics approach is proposed to determine the failure load and fracture…
Bendable concrete is also defined as engineered cementitious composites because of its great ductility and tight fracture width limitation. ECC mixtures by adding additional Portland cement, silica sand and fly ash, fiber types…
