In oil drilling, one of the most complicated problems is borehole stability of shale. Based on the theory of continuum damage mechanics, a modified Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion according to plastic damage evolution and the seepage-stress…
To meet the design requirements, different types of defects are often machined on the surface of fatigue components. Local stress concentration formed at the notch accelerate the initiation of fatigue crack, therefore greatly shorten the…
Brittle rock contains an important plastic deformation, which causes microcracks when coupled with stress-induced damage. A new coupled elastoplastic damage model is established in order to discuss the damage behaviors found in brittle…
The investigation of low-cycle fatigue behaviour of lotus-type porous material is presented in this paper. Porous materials exhibit some unique features which are useful for a number of various applications. This paper evaluates a…
In this paper, a novel coupled elastoplastic damage model for coal-rock is proposed to predict the deformation and potential disaster in coal mining. The conditions of small deformation and thermodynamic potential are considered, as well…
In order to solve the technical problem of damage localization in the concrete damage process, the Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning test and Acoustic Emission (AE) damage localization test was carried out under uniaxial compression.…
The work is devoted to the study of the damage accumulation in iron under gigacyclic fatigue (VHCF) regime. The study of the mechanical properties of the samples with different state of life time existing was carried out on the base of the…
The characterization of ductile damage evolution, and its description, have been the object of extensive research in the continuum damage mechanic field. Many different models have been developed since the pioneering works carried out a…
In this paper, we developed a mathematical modeling to represent the damage of thermoplastic pipes. On the one hand, we adapted the theories of the rupture pressure to fit the High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) case. Indeed, the theories for…
Some numerical studies of crack propagation are based on using constitutive models that account for damage evolution in the material. When a critical damage value has been reached in a material point, it is natural to assume that this…
The aim of this work was to evaluate the influence of temperature on the mechanical behavior of an amorphous polymer, namely acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), based on a series of uniaxial tensile tests on smooth specimens at…
The polypropylene random copolymer (PPR) is a thermoplastic material generally used for the transport of water under pressure, especially hot water. PPR pipes are exposed to severe conditions in terms of pressure and temperature, hence the…
This study analyses the failure mechanisms of bilayer hybrid composites, consisting of carbon and glass fibres embedded in an epoxy matrix, under bending loads. The objective is to evaluate how different hybrid configurations influence…
Problems involving errors and uncertainties from the use of numerical and experimental responses of beams using optimization processes have been studied by many researchers. In this field, to simulate the real behavior of structures…
Presently, Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs) are extensively utilised in several industrial sectors, and the modelling of their mechanical behaviour is consistently advancing. Most studies investigate the impact of layers on the…
The analysis of reinforced concrete structures can be performed by means of experiments or numerical studies. The first way is usually quite expensive, so the second one sometimes is a good option to understand the physical behaviour of…
A numerical model to predict crack propagation phenomena in sandwich structures is proposed. The model incorporates shear deformable beams to simulate high performance external skins and a 2D elastic domain to model the internal core.…
This work is devoted to an experimental investigation of fatigue behavior of pultruded fiberglass tubes under uniaxial tension, compression and torsion. Static tests were carried out; a presence of postcritical deformation stage during…
CPVC is an increasingly popular material for plumbing pipes and other applications that require strong and temperature-resistant material. This resin is created using a chlorination process, giving it Chlorine levels that range from 63 to…
Some numerical studies of crack propagation are based on using constitutive models that account for damage evolution in the material. When a critical damage value has been reached in a material point, it is natural to assume that this…
The near surface mounted (NSM) method of inserting fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) elements (rods or lamina) into notches has been shown to be a good way for restoring reinforced concrete (RC) elements. The knowledge about the use of…
The role of structural mechanisms responsible for the consequent staging of damage-failure transition as the combination and continuity of ductile and creep kinetics of the structure evolution and the modeling in dwell fatigue regime.…
