In this study, the influences of crack parameters like crack location from the left end, crack height, number of cracks and the magnitude of mass and the velocity of the transit load on the vertical displacements of the cracked simply…
Hybrid metal matrix composites (MMCs), recognized for their superior strength-to-weight ratios and synergistic property enhancements, are emerging as advanced materials capable of mitigating the inherent limitations observed in…
In this paper a macro-block model accounting for frictional resistances is presented to assess the lateral strength of a multi-storey masonry block wall. The kinematic approach of limit analysis is used to define the load factor causing…
In this work, the prediction of crack initiation angle (θo) under mixed mode (I/II) load is estimated from the generalized minimum plastic zone radius (GMPZR) criterion. The paper presents a detailed study on the crack-tip plastic core for…
This paper experimentally investigates the effect of steel and glass fibers on the engineering properties of concrete. To achieve this, 0.3%, 0.6%, and 0.9% by volume fraction of steel and glass fibers are added in concrete mixtures with…
This paper addresses the estimation of critical loads in FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) printed polymers and composites containing notches. Particularly, the analysis is focused on the fracture load estimations of 39 PLA (polylactic…
In the present work, the fracture toughness (KIC) of full-depth (FD) fiber-reinforced concrete (FRC) and layered functionally graded concrete (FGC) matrix cracked (MC) beams has been determined by the equivalent relationships of the…
The aim of this research was to study the effect of incorporating waste rubber aggregates on the physical, mechanical, thermal and durability performance of Self-Compacting Sand Concrete SCSC mixtures. For this purpose, the separately…
The current work presents an experimental study on the use of the crack tip opening displacement (CTOD) to evaluate its ability to characterise fatigue crack growth. A methodology is developed to measure and to analyse the CTOD from…
Most research on the mode II fracture toughness of fiber-reinforced concrete (FRC) has intentionally avoided bridging fibers at pre-notch surfaces by using a through-thickness crack (TTC) that cuts the entire thickness, including fibers in…
Concrete containing wastes from the demolition of old deteriorated buildings are produced enormously. Concrete is a brittle matrix that is usually reinforced by ductile reinforcement such as steel bars. However, due to the susceptibility…
Concretes with water to cement (or binder) ratios of 0.50. 0.40, 0.30 and 0.20 were prepared and long-term mechanical properties were measured. Porous light-weight aggregates (LWA) in dosages of 10 % and 20 % were used for self-curing…
In this scientific work, a new shear deformation theory for free vibration analysis of simply supported rectangular functionally graded plate embedded in an elastic medium is presented. Due to technical problems during the fabrication…
This research aims to characterize the behavior of isolated end-flattened steel bars under compressive loading, in which global instabilities or excessive local deformations represent a significant part of the causes of structural…
The work reports the observed fatigue damage of C45 steel specimens tested in a previous work under multiaxial loading conditions and its relationship with the thermal energy dissipation which has been used in the last decades to estimate…
