In this work are discussed some experimental data about the obtaining of recast layers on the surface of high speed tool steel after electrical discharge treatment in electrolyte. The electrical discharge treatment of steel surface in…
Cracks in cover of reinforced and pre-stressed concrete structures significantly influence the ingress of deleterious species causing decrease in durability of these structures. The paper is focused on the effect of fracture process on two…
This study explores how ageing temperature and the volume percentage of Al2O3+B4C nanoparticles influence the machinability and hardness of stir-cast Al-7075 Metal Matrix Composite (MMC). Using liquid metallurgy techniques, hybrid…
Different alloys can be used for Additive Manufacturing (AM) with good structural strength. Among the titanium alloys, Ti6Al4V is the most used, especially for aerospace applications. There have been many analyses of the mechanical…
A Light Utility Helicopter (LUH), in the course of a training flight, leaving the ground during the taxi to take off, went into an uncontrolled rolling to the right; consequently the helicopter gradually laid down on the right side. The…
This study, concerns the improvement of the hardness and resistance to wear of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy surface by means of thermochemical treatment, for obtaining coatings on the Ti-6Al-4V alloy gives performance of resistance to wear…
In the present study the impact behavior of gravity casting AlSi10Mg alloy was evaluated with an instrumented Charpy pendulum. The effect of hot isostatic pressing, also followed by a T6 treatment, was analyzed in comparison with samples…
In recent years, mechanical property of many SMA has improved in order to introduce these alloys in specific field of industry. Main examples of these alloys are the NiTi, Cu-Zn-Al and Cu-Al-Ni which are used in many fields of engineering…
This paper discusses the effect of different surface treatments on shape memory alloy wires embedded in PolyEster (PE) and VinylEster (VE) polymeric matrices. In particular, two types of chemical etching and a chemical bonding with a…
Aluminium (Al) based composites enhance the mechanical and wear behavior by heat treatment. The quenching factors like cooling agent, cooling rate and temperature of cooling are expected to influence the hardness, tensile, and wear…
In the present paper, fatigue tests were performed on sand-blasted AlSi10Mg samples produced by Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS). The effect of sand-blasting on surface properties was evaluated by roughness and residual stresses…
In the present paper, microstructural and mechanical properties of an innovative AlSi3Mg alloy were studied. Particularly, the effect of the addition of Cr and Mn on tensile strength and impact toughness was evaluated. In fact, the…
This paper deals with numerical modelling of the residual stress field formed after laser shock peening of a thin blade edge from TC4. It is shown that the application of double-sided symmetric laser shock peening is an effective way of…
The major drawback observed in the ceramic particles reinforced aluminium matrix composites (AMCs) is the reduction of ductility. Incorporating fine metallic particles along with the ceramic reinforcements in the aluminium matrix tends to…
Concrete completely submerged in sulfate solutions has been used as the primary study subject for the durability of concrete subjected to sulfates. On the other hand, empirical data from the field indicates that concrete exposed to…
The work is devoted to experimental investigation of the laser shock peening (LSP) effect on fatigue crack propagation rate and heat dissipation at the crack tip in specimens made of titanium alloy Grade 2 with a stress concentrator. It is…
To investigate the deterioration of granite under microwave irradiation and heat transfer, granite specimens were heated up to 400-1000 °C and then kept for 15 min. Uniaxial compressive strength testing results demonstrate a similar…
The microstructure and mechanical properties of stainless-steel AISI 304 wire mesh–reinforced AlSi9Cu-matrix composite specimens obtained by gravity casting were investigated. Optical and scanning electron microscope analyses were carried…
