This paper deals with the two-way shape memory effect (TWSME) induced on a strip of a nearequiatomic NiTi alloy by means of the shape memory cycling training method. This procedure is based on the deformation in martensite state to reach…
Shape memory effect (SME) and the relation with corrosion behavior of Cu-Zn-Al Smart Memory Alloys (SMAs) were investigated using different techniques: Scanning Electron Microscopy equipped with an Energy Dispersive System, X-Ray…
NiTi shape memory alloys (SMAs) are increasingly used in many engineering and medical applications, because they combine special functional properties, such as shape memory effect and pseudoelasticity, with good mechanical strength and…
This paper discusses Shape Memory Alloys’ (SMA) elastocaloric effect (EC) and underscores its potential use in substituting conventional cooling systems, for future and innovative applications in the biomedical sector, where temperature…
This paper discusses the effect of different surface treatments on shape memory alloy wires embedded in PolyEster (PE) and VinylEster (VE) polymeric matrices. In particular, two types of chemical etching and a chemical bonding with a…
The influence of temperature on the fatigue properties of pseudoelastic NiTi under low-cycle fatigue are investigated. Tests were performed under the uniaxial tensile deformation (pull-pull) at 0°С and 20°С which is above the austenite…
This paper reports a brief review of the research activities on fracture mechanics of nickel-titanium based shape memory alloys carried out at University of Calabria. In fact, this class of metallic alloys show an unusual fracture response…
