In this investigation, three-dimensional elastic finite element analyses have been conducted to compute the stress intensity factor (KI) in a SENB specimen with varied thickness (B) and crack-length to width ratio (a/W). The results…
The crack growth behavior of the aluminum alloy 6061 T651 was investigated using cruciform specimens with a measurement area of 120 x 120 x 2 mm3 with two center crack configurations of the starting notch parallel to one of the loading…
The use of miniaturized specimen testing methods is a promising way to solve the problem of limited materials in RPV monitoring programs. The use of miniature specimens allows the evaluation of fracture toughness from other specimen…
In this investigation the relationship between J-integral and CTOD is studied considering a Compact Tensile (CT) and Single edge notched bend (SENB) specimens using finite element analysis. The magnitude of CTOD is estimated by…
Carbon-Carbon Composites (C-CC), used as composites for their remarkable qualities in the space industry as well as in many other industry sectors. C-CC has proven to be the most efficient material in extreme temperature situations. One of…
Since the last two centuries, concrete has become the number one building material in the world. Therefore, we are interested in studying the mechanical behavior at failure of this material and calculate its toughness. In this paper, we…
Particleboard (PB) are wood-based composites with fine wood fibers bound together by a small amount of polymeric adhesive, widely used in furniture industry and civil engineering. PB plates can be painted, laminated or veneered, and have…
