In oil drilling, one of the most complicated problems is borehole stability of shale. Based on the theory of continuum damage mechanics, a modified Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion according to plastic damage evolution and the seepage-stress…
Microwave-assisted crushing and grinding can improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption. This paper takes rock grains with galena and calcite as the research object to establish a two-dimensional computational model through the…
Marble conventional triaxial loading and unloading failure testing research is carried out to analyze the elastic strain energy and dissipated strain energy evolutionary characteristics of the marble deformation process. The study results…
It can facilitate the understanding of the mechanical properties and failure laws of rocks to research on the rock failure mechanism and evolution characteristics of Acoustic Emission (AE). Under the concentrated loading condition, the…
Rock fracture mechanics has been widely applied to blasting, hydraulic fracturing, mechanical fragmentation, rock slope analysis, geophysics, earthquake mechanics and many other science and technology fields. Development of failure in…
Many numerical methods are carried out to study the nonlinear failure behaviors of the rock; however, the numerical simulation methods for the failed rock are still in the research stage. This paper establishes the damage constitutive…
Brittleness plays an important role in the brittle failure process of rocks, and is also one of the important mechanical properties of rocks and a key indicator in rock engineering such as hydraulic fracturing, tunnelling machine borehole…
The effects of high temperature induced by microwave radiation on the schistosity structural rock were investigated. A 1.45 kW commercial microwave system was employed to irradiate specimens to a designed temperature (300–800 °C) for 15…
In the present paper, mathematical models are proposed in order to analyze the strength of pinloaded lugs with semi-elliptical crack and through-the-thickness crack. The crack growth investigation of considered crack configurations tackles…
Rocks may exhibit time-dependent behaviors. Long-term strength criterion significantly dominates creep failure of rocks. Rocks contain many microcracks, which lead to degrade of long-term strength. In this paper, it is assumed that there…
Within the framework of a geomechanical model that describes the deformation of a rock mass during the subhorizontal coal-bed extraction, the mechanism for the formation and implementation of a sudden outburst is substantiated: as working…
Hydraulic hammers have been extensively applied to horizontal directional well drilling in hard rock formations. However, the service life of a hydraulic hammer is still unsatisfactory due to the heavy wear or abrasion of the horizontal…
