An original method of direct calculation for the identification of the last hinge and the definition of the deformative state at collapse

Roberto Maria De Salvo

The subject matter of these notes refers to the Ultimate Strength Design of 2-D steel framed structures and in particular to the analysis of the deformation state at collapse. The idea is based on the consideration that, if the structure…

On the lumped damage modelling of reinforced concrete beams and arches

Thalyson Brito, Danilo Santos, Fabio Santos, Rafael Cunha, David Amorim

The analysis of reinforced concrete structures can be performed by means of experiments or numerical studies. The first way is usually quite expensive, so the second one sometimes is a good option to understand the physical behaviour of…

Lumped damage mechanics as a diagnosis tool of reinforced concrete structures in service: case studies of a former bridge arch and a balcony slab

Rafael Cunha, Camila Vieira, David Amorim

Reinforced concrete structures may need repair in order to ensure the designed durability. Such necessity vary in cause and effect, but the structural diagnosis serves as the basis for adopting intervention measures. The assessment of the…
