Very often computations on structural elements or machine components subjected to variable loading require using an advanced finite element model. This paper reports the numerical implementation of a model for multiaxial cyclic…
Piezoelectric effects are exploited in an increasing number of micro- and nano-electro-mechanical systems. In particular, energy harvesting devices convert ambient energy (i.e. mechanical pressure) into electrical energy and their study is…
Many mechanical components such as, bearing housings, flexible couplings and spines or orthopedic devices are simultaneously subjected to a fretting wear and fatigue damage. For this reason, the combined study on a single model of wear…
In this study, we present a new implementation of the phase field fracture approach in the finite element code ANSYS and its numerical background. The framework is general, and is supported by addressing several classical 2D boundary value…
This paper is devoted to the numerical and experimental study of ductile fracture in bulk metal forming of the 2017A-T4 aluminum alloy. From an experimental standpoint, the ductile fracture of the 2017A-T4 aluminum alloy is investigated…
A quasi-static approach for an interface damage model, incorporating Rayleigh damping for viscoelastic carbon fiber reinforced polymer composites, is introduced. The interface traction-relative displacement behavior is modeled using a thin…
In the present paper the design and construction choices of a test field for the ballast lateral resistance measurement, in order to produce data useful for the development of a numerical model able to simulate the service critical…
This work is devoted to research and development of models for the processes of nucleation and growth of delamination in laminated composite materials. Possibilities of fracture mechanics approaches using virtual crack closure technique as…
This work is a numerical simulation of nonlinear problems of the damage process and fracture of quasi-brittle materials especially concrete. In this study, we model the macroscopic behavior of concrete material, taking into account the…
Fatigue takes a place more and more important in the design of structures, it remains a key point in the mechanical dimensioning of structures. The Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process is regarded today as the most promising alternative to…
The paper describes the implementation of 3D numerical simulation in machine learning models used in infrared thermographic nondestructive testing. The enhancement of generalizability of such models emerges as a decisive factor for…
Ageing infrastructure is of major concern for different industrial sectors across Europe. Fatigue cracking is one of the most important damage mechanisms that affect structural health of welded steel structures. Fatigue assessment of…
The most important element of mathematical models of thermomechanical processing of metals and alloys is the constitutive model. In recent decades, multilevel physically-oriented constitutive models (CMs) have found widespread application.…
The paper deals with the numerical investigation and implementation of the two-surface plasticity model (or bounding surface model). This plasticity theory allows to describe the deformation behavior under large strain cyclic plasticity…
A general approach to realization of models of elasticity, plasticity and fracture of heterogeneous materials within the framework of particle-based numerical methods is proposed in the paper. It is based on building many-body forces of…
Given the field of application and the many advantages, the use of FGM (Functionally Graded Materials) materials has recently been extended in several components and more particularly in cylindrical structures, which have been the subject…
The study investigates the application of fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites in constructions of bridges. It highlights the main advantages of using FRP as a building material and points out its suitability for various structural…
