The blade-disc dovetail interface in an aero-engine compressor is characterized by a non-uniform pressure distribution which can be obtained by an equivalent flat with round edge-on-plate configuration. The contact tractions for a mating…
In the maintenance work of cable configurations, which have limitations such as cables in cable-stayed bridges, suspenders in suspension bridges, and hangers in arch bridges, tension on the cables is required. The safety of the cable is…
Early damage detection plays an essential role in the safe and satisfactory maintenance of structures. This work investigates techniques use only damaged structure responses. A Timoshenko beam was modeled in finite element method, and an…
Gypsum is a soft rock with low strength and high propensity to plastic deformation. Its mechanical properties are relevant in a wide range of technical application (e.g. tunnel excavation, stability assessment of underground quarries, oil…
Abstract. This paper presents a numerical investigation about the influence of mandrel shape on residual stresses induced by the cold expansion procedure. Thus, ball and tapered pin are used for cold expanding the plate. As, the entrance…
In this paper is carried out the comparative analysis of effectiveness of test methods of determination of stiffness and strength properties of highly filled unidirectional fiberglass (Direct "E" roving 0.7 - orthophthalic polyester resin…
Stepped steel girders and beams with a jump in section depth are highly susceptible to local web buckling at the step location. Although tapered steel girders have been studied extensively by researchers, abruptly stepped steel girders…
Having Low density and being Light weight with better mechanical properties, aluminum is the most significant material and is universally used in highly critical applications like navy, aerospace and particularly automotive activities.…
Safety Impact resistance is defined as the ability of a material to absorb impact energy through controlled failure mechanism. The greater the energy absorption by the crash safety structure, the greater the safety in preventing…
Single Point Incremental Forming was conducted on Aluminum1100 and Brass CuZn37 to form a hyperbolic truncated pyramid with varying wall angles until the fracture occurs. The formability of the specimens in terms of fracture depth and…
This work focuses on the synthesize of nanostructured (Fe65Co35)100-x (Pr6O11)x (x = 0, 5) powders using high energy ball milling. The influence of Pr6O11 on structural, morphological and magnetic properties of Fe65Co35 nanoparticles were…
This paper presents a study of the application of Leak-Before-Break (LBB) to nuclear piping using three different materials. Based on the fracture mechanics, the LBB concept considers that a leakage from a crack can be detected before it…
High Entropy Alloys (HEAs) is a unique class of materials that combine particular properties in a large-scale of temperatures, able to guarantee new unexplored materials and alloys with several potentially engineering applications (i.e.…
The good management of drinking water begins with a supply network, with a low rate of leakage. Currently, the pipes used in the water transport system are mainly made of polymeric materials, such as HDPE. The corrosion degradation of this…
FML (Fibre Metal Laminate) is a hybrid material that presents outstanding structural properties, such as resistance to cyclic and dynamic loads, together with low specific weight. This material consists of metal sheets alternating to…
This paper presents the behaviour of fatigue damage extraction in fatigue strain histories of automotive components using the probabilistic approach. This is a consideration for the evaluation of fatigue damage extraction in automotive…
The present paper describes the failure analysis of an aircraft component subjected to several episodes of in service failure, resulted in loss of the aircraft safety. Modern aircrafts are provided with mechanical systems which have the…
This study investigates the physico-mechanical properties, mineralogical composition, deterioration processes, weathering patterns, and durability of building materials in the Ottoman Fort of Tamentfoust, Algiers, to inform heritage…
Additive Manufacturing (AM) is a technological process in which elements are fruitfully built up adding materials layer by layer. AM had a massive development in recent times, thanks to its intrinsic advantages, especially if compared with…
Industry needs new materials that present very high structural characteristic, such as high strength, low weight and high damage tolerance. To obtain these characteristics a new class of materials has been introduced: Fibre Metal Laminate…
Welding is used widely in modern industries to combine parts needed complete a product. In this paper, we investigated the effect of post-weld impact treatment (PWIT) on spot-weld joints and evaluate the tensile and fatigue properties of…
