Additive layer manufacturing has recently gained a lot of interest due to the feasibility of producing metallic components directly from a computer-aided design file of the part. Selective laser melting, one of the main additive layer…
Aeroengine manufacturers have to demonstrate that critical components such as turbine disks, made of DA Inconel 718, meet the certification requirements in term of fatigue crack growth. In order to be more representative of the in service…
Enhancing the machinability of difficult-to-cut materials is imperative, and a non-conventional rotary tool has shown high potential when machining these materials. This work comparatively evaluates the tool wear of conventional round…
Soft computing techniques, with their self-learning capabilities, fuzzy principles, and evolutionary computational philosophy, are being increasingly utilized in modeling complex machining processes. This study develops artificial neural…
Experimental indentations are carried out on items of two different materials, taken in several location of various components from high pressure gas turbine rotor which have seen an extensive service. The components object of…
The possibility of producing high carbon steel/Inconel 718 bimetallic parts via Fused Filament Fabrication and Sintering is explored. Compatibility of the two alloys with particular attention to elements interdiffusion through the…
Designing tooling and cooling systems to prevent cutting tool damage is crucial while machining difficult-to-cut nickel alloys. This study investigates the machining effects during turning Inconel 718 using unitary aluminum oxide (Al2O3)…
Inconel 625 is a nickel-based superalloy that finds application in many industrial sectors thanks to its high strength, excellent fabricability, and outstanding corrosion resistance. It is characterized by a good weldability and often used…
This paper presents a novel modification of the multilevel statistical model for describing the subgrain boundary migration that can explicitly account for the topology of subgrain structures in the form of Laguerre polyhedra. The…
The development of additive technologies for manufacturing safety‑critical components operating under vibration must be accompanied by a careful analysis of the material’s resistance to high‑cycle fatigue (HCF). This paper presents a…
