The paper provides an evaluation of the nonlinear dynamic response of a cantilever beam made of composite material subjected to low-velocity impacts. The structure is assumed to respond in a quasi-static manner and modelled by a continuous…
The Algerian seismic code assumes that the beam-column joints in monolithic reinforced concrete (RC) buildings are fully rigid. However, many experiments have proven the existence of relative rotations in these connections, and then the…
This paper proposes a methodology to evaluate and optimize the dynamic response of tall buildings under wind loading, controlled through semi-active Magneto-Rheological dampers (MR dampers). For this, a tall building, modeled as a 2D…
Presently, Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs) are extensively utilised in several industrial sectors, and the modelling of their mechanical behaviour is consistently advancing. Most studies investigate the impact of layers on the…
An original simplified constitutive model is proposed to simulate the effects of ballistic impacts on blocks of synthetic muscle simulant based on mineral oil and styrene ethylene-butylene styrene polymers (SEBS) as a convenient substitute…
Drapery meshes are protection devices installed on a cliff for mitigating rockfall hazard. They can prevent the detachment of rock fragments and control the dynamics of the falling blocks. During their design working life, drapery meshes…
Mounting stiffness has an important impact on a system’s structural dynamics and also on the durability of many structures. Mounts with tunable stiffness allow adapting a system’s structural dynamic behavior. Furthermore, they can be used…
According to the research conducted, the asymmetric multi-storey buildings are complex and suffer from severe damage caused by increased torsional response. This paper addresses the behavior assessment of setback building with irregularity…
