The benefits of resins nano-enhanced on the impact response of sandwich composites made by fiber glass/epoxy skins and balsa wood core were studied. Afterwards, the influence of the core's discontinuity was analyzed in terms of impact…
This study investigates the modification of epoxy resins with pyrolysis bio-oils derived from plant waste, aiming to enhance mechanical performance. A method for epoxy resin modification using bio-oil is proposed, including techniques for…
Epoxy resin reinforced with 10% of TiO2 and pure epoxy resin are taken to exemplify the possibility of constructing a fracture locus for engineering organic polymers as a dependence of ultimate strain energy density in cohesive failure on…
This paper describes an experimental study developed to characterize the mode I and mode II fracture toughness of carbon/epoxy woven composites, using DCB and ENF tests, respectively. The laminates were manufactured using an epoxy resin…
The use of Areca sheath in developing a newer composite material is proposed in this article. The Areca sheath particulates are extracted by pulverizing long sheaths into different sizes of particulates and are reinforced into the epoxy to…
Nanostructured adhesives may be defined as those materials whose elements imbedded in an epoxy matrix have dimensions in the 1 to 100 nm range. One of the most interesting aspects of ceramic nanoparticles is that their mechanical…
This work constitutes a contribution to the analysis of the behavior of beams reinforced by composite materials. The analysis was made by a study on concrete elements, and in pre-cracked reinforced concrete then reinforced with carbon…
The post-curing process of cured composites is essential in enhancing the strength, stiffness, elevating the glass transition temperature, and reducing residual stress in polymer thermoset composites. The curing temperature and time are…
The use of reinforcements in adhesive joints makes the stress distribution more uniform, improving their mechanical performance and adhesion. The present paper aims to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the insertion of nylon 6…
This paper presents an experimental and numerical characterization, typical for adhesive aerospace applications. The task is carrying two steps. The first consists on the analysis of a single lap joint produced by a carbon fiber fabric…
