Aeroengine manufacturers have to demonstrate that critical components such as turbine disks, made of DA Inconel 718, meet the certification requirements in term of fatigue crack growth. In order to be more representative of the in service…
Fields of stress, strain rate and process zone of a mode I creep crack growth are analyzed by employing damage evolution equations. Damage models for fracture of process zone represented by stress based formulation. Two expressions are…
The paper contains plane strain analysis of uniformly stretched plate working in creep condition. The plate contains initial defects in forms of central and/or edge cracks working in mode I. These cracks are modelled by attributing…
In this study, a numerical strategy for predictive modelling of creep in tension tests for the rectangular plate with a single crack and CT-specimen based on the extended finite element method (XFEM) will be described in detail. A model of…
This work aims to study the crack propagation in 12%Cr steel for turbine disks. Creep Crack Growth (CCG) tests on CT specimens have been performed to define the proper fracture mechanics which describes the initiation of the crack…
The mixed mode loading configuration occurs in many civil engineering and mechanical applications. In wood material, the study of this problem is very important due to the orthotropic character and the heterogeneity of the material. In…
The present study is concerned with formulation of a model for the creep–fatigue crack growth rate prediction on the base of fracture damage zone concepts. It is supposed that crack growth rate can be determined by integration of damage…
The ambient and high-temperature fatigue crack growth behaviors in C(T) and SENT specimens of Ni-based superalloy for turbine disk application were studied in a wide interval of temperatures 25–750°C using a combination a electro- and…
The stress, strain rate and process zone with respect to the creep-crack growth are analyzed by employing damage-evolution equations. The damage models for the fracture of the process zone are represented using a stress and ductility based…
Some numerical studies of crack propagation are based on using constitutive models that account for damage evolution in the material. When a critical damage value has been reached in a material point, it is natural to assume that this…
The ? -TiAl based intermetallic alloys are interesting candidate materials for high-temperature applications with the efforts being directed toward the replacement of Ni-based superalloys. TiAl-based alloys are characterised by a density…
Blades of combustion turbines are extremely loaded turbojet elements, which transmit operative energy onto a rotor. Experiences of many years indicate, that cracks initiation and propagation in the blades during the operation time can…
Some numerical studies of crack propagation are based on using constitutive models that account for damage evolution in the material. When a critical damage value has been reached in a material point, it is natural to assume that this…
